Boss Roy Keane says he is delighted to have signed strike pair Daryl Murphy and David Healy. The duo joined on loan for the rest of the season from Sunderland yesterday.

Keane told the club site: "Up front is an area of the park that I certainly feel we need to improve. I have made many enquiries for players over the past month or two and spoke to managers and I was pleased to get over the finishing line with Sunderland yesterday.

"It was a bit of a rush, like it often is with the deadline, but we got there with 15 minutes to spare, so not too bad.

"I have worked with both David and Daryl before and I'm delighted to have them at the club. Both lads were keen to come, which was obviously a big factor.

"Murph gives us options. He can play on the left but I think we will get the best out of him up front.

"David has a fantastic goals record at international level. It didn't happen at Sunderland for him but that's football and he didn't get a run of games up there, with the competition for places they have.

"We will gauge their fitness with Saturday in mind but they are both keen to be involved and know the demands I will put on them."

Think Keano has done nicely in the window - especially giving Priskin some game time away from the Ipswich boo boys! Hopefully they won't have time to get their claws into our new pair of signings.

However I am also sorry for Tamas, as I dont think he was ever given a fiar crack of the whip at Town....I hope his loan to QPR is just that, a loan, and that he returns to us next season to start with a clean slate , and increased confidence. He definately does have a lot to offer but coming into a struggling side when he joined us was maybe not the best opportunity or timing for him.

ottovonbismark added 18:01 - Feb 2 isn't our problem that we have two like for like midfielders in leadbitter and norris and neither are creative or attacking midfielders. i thought priskan often felt isolated up front - all god teams have midfielders that get into the box and score but ours rarely do if ever!

Keane probably got the go ahead for Healy and Murphy, so thought Priskin wouldn't be playing with these two, Stead and possibly Pablo ahead of him. Plus he probably needed to free up wages. Hopefully it will do him good to get games at QPR. He's still only 23 remember. I think the moves is best for both parties at the present time.

cbower added 18:30 - Feb 2 Good call from ottovonbismark. I, like many others, was excited when Norris returned and thought that his partnership with Leadbitter would be something special. However, neither of them has really shown the desire as yet to get beyond the strikers. I hope this will change as I reckon they are both capable of doing so. It is to be hoped that Priskin comes back stronger for his loan experience - he does have much to offer this club long term imo. Healy - bang 'em in boy.......please. A good start for him is essential. If Murphy can head the ball at all he will be an improvement on Stead's lame efforts in the air. Would like to see a midfield of Walters (when fit) Norris, Leadbitter and Murphy with Healy and Stead / Wickham / Counago up top - and give licence to both Walters and Murphy to get forward as much as possible if Leadbitter and Norris are going to "sit" in midfield. If RK gives one of them a more attacking remit, then maybe Murphy up front with healy and either Colback, Garvan or Peters on the left. Roll on Boro - 3 points...........................please!

joeylarts8 added 18:37 - Feb 2 Fair point, none of our midfielders ever get beyond the strikers and into the box, which is part of being a central midfielder, to get into the box when the ball goes wide and getting on the end of crosses, however Leadbitter is one of the best midfielders i've seen at Ipswich in the last 5-6 years, and remember hes still only what 23? He has bags of quality. As for Norris it will take him time to get back into things, but give him a few weeks and he'll be back to his best. You only have to look at the way Priskin took his one on one chance on Saturday to see how low his confidence levels our, i personally think its good business sending him out on loan and bringing in two proven goalscorers, which we've been crying out for.

How lean the times have become that our 'discussion' board is taken up with our lame and half-hearted whitterings as we try to whip up even 1% interest in these lacklustre loanees. It's gonna be (as if we hadn't already realised it) a long, hard season in which we have to hope against the evidence that there are three teams more dire than us... It's really rather hard to care at all, let alone part company with any precious and hard-earned cash. I will live and die a Town fan and yet I literally can't remember a more soul-destroying time to follow them...

I think anyone who has a go at two new players before they step out onto the pitch for us is stretching the 'town fan' to its very limits. No I am not totally impressed with some of the signings (although two out of three from sunderland are currently on top form) BUT i will be there on saturday wishing these guys the very best of luck and supporting the club i have grown up with and stuck with through good times and bad.

I'm looking forward to a goalicious second half the season OR a Keane shaped hole in the boardroom door as ME kicks him out. If these signings don't work then i can't see how Keane has even the smallest inkling of a whisper of a hope of a chance of being our manager next season. On paper, TO DATE, he's f*****g utter unmitigated s**t with no excuse (no excuse) for the dismal return he has given this club with the outlay he's been given. Even a blind, deaf, dead dog could see/hear/smell that. 2+2 = well, minus 28 by Keane's calculator. Fingers crossed, let this not be another false dawn please god, and away we go!! Whoooosh! Top of the league* COYB! COYB! COYB! *in 2012.
