Healy Reported to Want to Stay With Town
Healy Reported to Want to Stay With Town
Sunday, 28th Feb 2010 10:12

Loan striker David Healy has already decided he wants to quit Sunderland and join the Blues permanently in the summer, according to one of this morning’s tabloids.

It would be little surprise if Healy does want to make his switch permanent, having said he has been enjoying his time here in his column in the Belfast Telegraph.

Healy, whose Sunderland contract is up in the summer of 2011, scored his first Town goal in the 1-1 draw at Scunthorpe last Tuesday.

The striker will be away with the Northern Ireland squad this week for their friendly in Albania.

Agree leadbitter6, whenfully match fit, a genuine goal threat.
I would love to see the move made permanent, and when a player actually wants to play for you, all the better.
To be honest, would like to see Murphy made permanent too.

proven at international level, his goals to game stats show just how good he is at the top. Match fit, constant threat and wants to stay. Definately sign him up

Never have rated Healy at Club level never done it at Man Un Preston or Sunderland why should that change. Hope I am wrong but I see no reason why it should change at Ipswich. Pablo did more in his time on the pitch yesterday than Healy did before his substitution and Pablo is by no means the answer. Still can't understand why we let Stead go when he was our leading goalscorer - yes he needs 20 yards to turn round in but its goals that count and we have a grave shortage of them. In my opinion Healy is not the answer.

he is a good player i think that we should keep him. I would just like to point out that when Healy and Murphy got subbed and Keane brought on Pablo and Wickham the game livened so I think that Keane should start Pablo and Wickham at the next game.

I'm sorry stow tractor, but were you at the game? He was a constant thorn in their defences side. You watch him, its not all about what you do with the ball. He could have had a penalty too, and Murphy should have put him in, in the second half. Instead of taking the ball out wide. But I agree he still is not match fit, but as soon as Wickham and pabs came on I new a draw was on its way.

Definately not worth a contract & yes I did go yesterday. If you're a striker it IS all about scoring goals.

I would like to see healy and Murphy sign. Keep Pablo and Wickham, then were all sorted for next season. Priskin, Stead I hope do well so we can get them off the payroll.........and we have to start to negoiate the Colback deal soon as well!

We must try and extend colbacks stay either perm or loan next season. As for healy he scored year and years ago at PNE but since then nothing at leeds fulham and sunderland. The anomaly is his NI scoring record but he has never replicated it at club level. priskin has 8 in 24 or something like it for Hungary , enough said .

The quick link up play between Healy and Murphy was the only thing close to a highlight in a shocking first half yesterday, we must learn to play into Healy's feet more though, and they would both benefit from a more natural wide left midfielder, far too often in the first half yesterday, everything came down the right hand side, making life very predictable and eassy for the Bristol City defence.
Pablo and Wickham did look good yesterday, but then, they both know that they have strong competition for their places upfront now.
I did notice that Haines has not improved, all that pace and still no clue how to use it to good effect.

Healy should not have been subbed yesterday and is class at this level. He may not be a shefki but he is a clever player and its a pity some of our midfielders are not quicker in the head, Healy's thinking is light years ahead. They say a good player gets a yard in his head. Did people not see him screaming for the ball on numerous times yesterday when on the shoulder of the last man. Sign him and Murphy up Keano.

People tell me that the commentary team on the radio criticised his performance yesterday, but from where I sat, he was a thorn in the side of the City defence all afternoon. I was surprised to see him come off.

Murphy on the other hand was very quiet and ineffective, but to be fair to the lad the service was not brilliant.

If this is the case then Keane should get in his ear and tell him to treat this loan spell as a trial for a permanent contract. He needs to prove himself first.

Agree with some of the above, Healy has great movement and that creates more space for other players and himself. Goals will come with fitness and confidence. I think he and Murphy provide a dangerous front line, if only Murph wasn't so one-footed he would be a lot more clinical in front of goal. However, I'm sure thats also a matter of confidence and hopefully they will both join us in the summer to push on for an automatic promotion position.

Agree with Stow Tractor Boy, anybody who comes to Ipswich on a loan wants to stay....living in East Anglia must be heaven.
But Iam afraid if you Keane lovers on this board want to go through the same stressfull games we are watching at the moment. Then we have to get a manager who can mould a team together, it is not all about the best players being signed. The problem Marcus Evans has is the large contract RK has and would the club pay him and his background staff off.
