Delaney's Red Card Rescinded
Delaney's Red Card Rescinded
Tuesday, 16th Mar 2010 14:11

Damien Delaney has won his appeal against the red card he received for serious foul play in the second half of Saturday’s game against Scunthorpe. The central defender will now be available to play for the Blues at Watford this evening.

The Irish international was dismissed by referee Pat Miller for a trip on Iron striker Jonathan Forte.

Town used video evidence to support their case at the hearing in front of the FA Disciplinary Commission at 1pm today.

Fantastic news! One of our most improved players this season. Just shows how badly the referee managed the game. C'mon Town.

Woo Hoo, I have just fallen off my chair. Must admit I wasn't hopeful but the FA have finally restored a small sense of justice in the appeal system! Be interesting to see why they rescinded it (on the grounds of it not being 2 footed/serious foul play!)

Great news for the boys & for tonight, the solid back 4 can hopefully continue their decent form and keep another clean sheet.

About time them twots at the FA got something right. Does this mean the ref gets the red card for a few games...bloody well should do.

1) For not only wasting our managements time protesting DD's innocence
2) Could have cost us points against scunny
3) Losing a much improved player for this season for 3 maybe 4 vital games

The justification for instant replays at games just gets more and more valid.

Still, sour grapes no more! COYB 0-3 will do just fine, Delaney hat trick !

Excuse my ignorance but does the red card just get wiped off and he gets away scott free, or is it downgraded to a yellow?

Bergholtblue - downgrades to a yellow

Sanity has broken out at the FA. Well done all those who wrote to them after the ridiculous Stead punishment. I hope this will set the precedent that referees will no longer be blindly backed except in cases of mistaken identity or no foul at all (which seemed to be the case previously).

The disciplinary panel has finally seen it is unacceptable to the football watching public for them to close ranks around refs when they have made glaring mistakes.

Really didnt expect that, great news. We need this back four intact. They have been as they have been the best back four that we have had for ages and i am including Rosenoir in with them when he plays.

Amazed and pleased.

Lets get Smith back out again though so he doesn't just kick his heels and halt his development.

really good news, the last thing we wanted was for the solid pairing of Delaney and G McAuley to be broken up especially with some winnable games coming up!!!

im hoping for 9 points out of the next 3 games but wouldnt be disappointed with 7!!!

COYB!!!

We havent got a good record against Watford of late and they are on the back of four defeats so am expecting a backlash. But just like the others on here, really wanna be positive. Delaney and Macauley have done really well so far this season and hope it continues. Just wish we could trounce someone, what with all the chances we have. Finish them!!
