Murphy to Consider Future Over Summer
Murphy to Consider Future Over Summer
Tuesday, 13th Apr 2010 11:23

On-loan striker Daryl Murphy says he will consider his future over the summer once he has ended his loan spell with the Blues. The Republic of Ireland international has scored six goals in 16 games since joining Town on loan from Sunderland at the end of January.

The 27-year-old told the club site: "I've enjoyed it here, I've scored a few goals - should have scored a few more - and played in every game.

"I'll go back to Sunderland at the end of the season and have a holiday, meet up with family and friends and think about the future from there."

Murphy, who has previously said he would be interested in staying at Portman Road, is contracted to the Black Cats until 2012 and manager Roy Keane recently admitted that wages would be the big issue if the Blues were to decide to make Murphy a permanent signing in the summer. Town’s top wage is understood to be around the £12,000-a-week mark, while the striker is believed to be on double that at Sunderland.

Black Cats boss Steve Bruce has said that he would be willing to talk to Town about permanent deals regarding Murphy and fellow loanee David Healy.

Murphy says he feels that Town have the potential to have a much better 2010/11: "I obviously wasn't here at the start of the season when the club went 15 games or so without a win, but I'd say Ipswich is definitely going in the right direction now.

"There is the nucleus of a very good team here and the club is in a position to kick on and move forward next season.

"We have three games left and it's important to finish the season strongly and then push on from there."

Chopra is a disgrace in Sunderland. He is a scum Newcastle fan and in a local derby he was playing for Sunderland and was clear on goal and his shot went nearer the corner flag. He bottled it and he was shipped back to Cardiff on loan the following day with that loan becoming permanent in the summer. Keane had walked by then. As for how many goals he scored this year? - who gives a crap. I just think with Keane's previous record, Ipswich may try and sign him this summer.......

24K A WEEK WHAT A JOKE. IF HE IS THAT BOTHER ABOUT JOINING US HE WILL TAKE A WAGE CUT. REMINDS ME OF THAT FRANNY BLOKE (JEFFERS) WHO WAS DESPERATE TO BE WITH ITFC AND THEN WHEN IT GOT TO THE CRUNCH WAS LIKE AN OLD CAR - STALLING A LOT. DO WE REALLY WANT TO PAY OUT 24K FOR HIM. IF HE WILL GET US 20 TO 25 GOALS A SEASON THEN IF THAT'S THE PRICE THEN THAT'S WHAT WE WILL HAVE TO DO .

murphy would be a very good signing. Also, please lets keep connor for another year. He'll tear it up next season. Bennyblue, although im undecided, if you went to any games, home or away, you would know keane is popular around here. I think you dont know much beyond what you think. Which is blinkered uneducated an a load of isht. I thank you.

Strange I just reread the story and no where did I read he did not want to stay...All he said he was going to think about his future, and I don't see the problem with that, as he knows to come to us he has to take a wages cut. In an ideal world we would pay him the same money as Sunderland do and he would love to stay. So he has to think does he want to play for Ipswich more than he wants the extra cash? People on here get so worked up over nothing. The bottom line if RK wants him, a deal will be worked out if not he will turn his attention elsewhhere.

Keane wanted him in the summer but he chose to stay at Sunderland not playing much ,so i would say it is more upto the player rather than if Keane wants him and as said before he will see who offers him the most ,and he now has a worse goals per start ratio than Stead for us this season when we are supposedly playing better football than at the start of the season !!

Thanks for your goals which have helped us to the lofty heights of 13th! Not a perm for me though. Largely anonymous in a lot of games recently.
