Pablo Loan Set to Go Through Today
Pablo Loan Set to Go Through Today
Thursday, 19th Aug 2010 10:24

Crystal Palace are set to complete the loan signing of Town striker Pablo Couñago later today, according to reports in south London. News of the Eagles' loan move for the Spaniard first broke yesterday.

If the season-long deal is completed before the weekend as is expected, the 31-year-old is still unlikely to be involved against the Blues on Saturday.

Couñago, who was brought into English football by Palace boss George Burley in 2001 when he was at Town, has fallen out of favour with current manager Roy Keane and was unlikely to be involved with the Blues again. The ex-Celta Vigo and Malaga man's contract is up at the end of the season.

Yesterday, Palace signed former Town academy schoolboy Stuart O'Keefe from Southend United.

This game is going to be a nightmare to listen to on the radio.

We've a couple of strikers lined up Swan and Vestas said to be a good match for this level.

I am assuming all you travelling fans will all give Burley a GREAT reception on Saturday. He is (still) one of our own and deserves it for being the only manager to give us some real fun in the last 15 years. I shall be listening on the radio! Please may I request: "There's only one George Burley," or "Give us a wave," as appropriate. Followed, of course, by "COYB," since I do actually want US to win.

What a shame. If you look at the appearance stats for last year he did not get much of a chance and certainly not the chances that non_performing Keane players like Edwards continue to get. I hope he does well.

I think it is time for Pablo to move on a may do well under George and the way he plays football.
But from a Town point of view on Saturday i would rather have Wright at right back than Peters ,rather Garvan was playing than Healy and rather have Counago in the squad than than Murray at this point in time which we will be left with on Saturday ,add to that Ambrose and Lee who would both get in our team and squad and its a sad state of affairs ,really need to make some signings

I really didn't think anybody would come in for him. Shame it's not permanent but one more bit of deadwood out of the door.

I've always loved Pablo , he is far too clever for most of our other players. I liked him playing with Peters they seemed to be on same level.
I will watch out for him wherever he plays.
Good luck Pablo

Surco72: I think most of us would rather see Garven than healy play... In fact I'd rather see my 7 year old son play than Healy as he's not very good... but I'd rather see Leadbitter, Norris and Hyam play than Garven, so I'm not too bothered... maybe we will see that 18 year old (Hourahaine...spell?) we got from Sunderland instead on Saturday.... or Civelli if he's fit.... again I'd rather see both of them than Garven as well.
As for Wright v Peters... maybe at the moment as Wright has the experiance... but give Peters a couple of months to bed in as a RB and I beleive he'll be a far better option.
Counago v Murray.... in the squad (on the bench)... sorry disagree here as well... Pablo is probably (just) the better player at the moment, but have you seen Murray play? Gives his all.... looked good v West Ham and OK v Burnley when he came on... more than can be said of Pablo lately from all accounts.
I think we have gone in the right direction, got rid off the old wood and looking to replace with better/hungrier players... I think you may find we sign at least 2 in the next week.

Good luck Pablo.

Whilst I reckon Keane will bring in one striker soon, I wouldn't be surprised if he and many other managers are awaiting the fall out from the new 25 player limit in the Premier League. From 1st Sept could be some loan signings up for grabs with excluded players wanting to get a game, clubs wanting to keep their assets from wilting and in the shop window for Jan & clubs doing deals over shared salaries/payments to at least get some cash back to offset wages.

to be honest i dont think that the deal with scotland is going to happen!! But then again we have 2 quality strikers in Stead (who wont leave) as on saturday you could see his desire to play for the club and Wickham who everyone is forgetting about, he wont move on for at least 1 season But agreed with everyone else we do need a class striker signed. Get the signing done and the squad is sorted out......
COYB !!

Should never have come back. Big Joe saw what he was capable of, which was very little.

It's a pity ...(fill in the blanks).... Dyer, Stewart, Venus, Magilton, Mowbray, Bramble ........aren't still playing for us. For f$&k sake "get over it" and support the players, manager, owner and the Club in general.
As for the ID-10-TS (perhaps IQ-10) who would rather see Palace win, well there are still a few seats left at Carrot Ruud on Saturday, you deserve each other.

You know why he hasn't played, because bone head hasn't given him a chance, like garvan - forced out the club and both good players.

Jimmy Juan - he did score one cracker of a free kick, if memory serves Finidi scored one beuaty as well, just one though.....

Start of the season one of the most obvious areas of the pitch that needed strengthening was up front. Here we are having weakened that position further by getting rid of Walters, Counago, Lisbie (well not weakening just shipped out again thank goodness),Martin, no D Murphy, no D Healy and trying to get rid of Stead who has looked lively and should be kept IMO and Wickham out injured!
An attacking force of Priskin and Murray is highly unlikely to get much of a return. Norris looks more likely to score than them, so if Keane has identified his players and M.E. wants Town to be at the right end of the table Clegg needs to get these deals sorted out soon.

I wish people would get of the GARVAN BANDWAGON..... HE has his chances in the team and every tim ehe played apart from maybe once where he got an assist he was awful, slow and lacted passion. (yes some will say thats cos he was playing keane... bla bla bla bla)

Take the away watford game... he was AWFUL!!!! He did nothing right, couldnt pass, win headers and got easily pushed of the ball! I agree that he is better than Healy but he is gone now and no way near as good as leadbitter, norris or hyam.

I wish people would stop living in the past and just get behind the current squad (as slim as it might be..... but im sure news will come!!!)

Er, ChambersM .... Pablo had a LOT of chances last season! And even under Magilton it was painfully obvious that Pablo couldn't/wouldn't play away from Portman Road. And even playing at home was always a gamble as to whether he could actually be bothered. How is it Keane's fault when that was the situation years before he came? At least 2 managers have been unable to get the best out of Pablo, which suggests it may just be the player who is at fault.

I know you can't stand him, but can you stop trying to turn EVERYTHING into an anti-Keane blast, please??? It's getting boring, repetitive and downright f***ing annoying.

Bye Pabs, don't exactly like the prospect of him playing for Palace against Ipswich on saturday!

ChambersM - I have said it before - but I think you should consider supporting another club. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but you are 100% negative ALL of the time. Dobbie73 has summed it up nicely. I think for your own good you should move on - Keane being in charge is causing you so much pain. Do yourself a favour. Move on.
