Pablo Loan Set to Go Through Today
Pablo Loan Set to Go Through Today
Thursday, 19th Aug 2010 10:24

Crystal Palace are set to complete the loan signing of Town striker Pablo Couñago later today, according to reports in south London. News of the Eagles' loan move for the Spaniard first broke yesterday.

If the season-long deal is completed before the weekend as is expected, the 31-year-old is still unlikely to be involved against the Blues on Saturday.

Couñago, who was brought into English football by Palace boss George Burley in 2001 when he was at Town, has fallen out of favour with current manager Roy Keane and was unlikely to be involved with the Blues again. The ex-Celta Vigo and Malaga man's contract is up at the end of the season.

Yesterday, Palace signed former Town academy schoolboy Stuart O'Keefe from Southend United.

A sad day for Ipswich Town.

Im a Town fan living in Croydon and not looking forward to Saturday, too many old boys to haunt us and raise their game!

For a player who on returning for his second stint with us said he was coming back to prove a point and that we didnt see the best of him he never lived up to his billing did he.At this stage who will we have left?I would like to see us hanging on to Stead and bring in a few quality players,I can only hope that all the silence this week means we have some targets in our sights and will get them in quick.

why give money (ie pay his most of his stupid wages) to a competitor, better he went to Torquay or Hartlepool

A shame. The best striker we have.

I like Pabs but we all have to be honest we can't afford a player who never perform away! He was good at home but this would never suit Keano as his work ethic is second to none.

Keano has done his bit, its now over to you Cleggy!

P.S Good luck for the future Pabs and thank you for your efforts. (at home anyway)

Why does everbody insist on that its keanes fault we aint signed a striker yet hes identified the targets spoke to them they want to come here but its ME and SC who are delaying things with further talks with the players ie contracts etc Keanes doing his job perhaps SC and ME should do theres

sadly his goal tally under Royle, Magilton and Keane does not back your statement

The best striker we have.

He's still the most skillful player we have in the sqaud, but he doesn't score goals. I'd love to have seen him playing behind a front two linking everything up.

Who to support Ipswich rejects or Sunderland rejects? Sadly for genuine Town fans - the answer is probably Palace

Sorry TractorGeek, i will be supporting ITFC and whilst i have no animosity to any of the players that have gone, or to Burley, my loyalty is to the club.

To Dale you say that is the best striker we have wake up man

If only he could have matched his skill and awareness with effort.

So its Town versus the reserves on Saturday. Should be a walkover - not! They'll probably pass us off the pitch and we'll win 1-0

So will it be Palace 4 Town nil with goals from Garvan, Lee, Ambrose and Pablo??? Think not.

Best of luck to Pablo - a genuinely skillful player but sadly no longer effective - at least on a consistent basis.

Finally....those comments that hope Ipswich lose on Saturday just to prove that Keane was wrong demonstrate that there a small number who are more interested in being proven right than supporting their club. Sad really.

I never want to see our club lose. It is also worth noting that Keano didn't sell Ambrose or Lee - so can't see how he can be blamed for those. Pablo simply doesn't score enough goals. I think the D. Wright issue has been discussed enough. I wish them all well - but not against us.

Those who want to see us lose or support Palace - off you go - enjoy. This forum and ITFC would be better off without you.

Pablo is probably past his sell by date but where does this leave us if he and Stead go? Walters has already waved goodbye to what seems like a sinking ship and Connor Wickham is out injured. I know Keane likes to play with one up front for away games which is just as well. Eighteen year old Ronan Murphy, who has not played a full league game yet, will have to learn fast. Very fast!

Oh no, oh no!! The dreaded Pabs and Lee connection, fed by the subtle left foot of Owen Garvan and the wiles of Darren Ambrose, supplemented by the marauding runs of David Wright and backed by the goalkeeping excellence of Lewis Price!

Where did that get us? 18th?

A shame in many ways. A skillful player with some lovely touches, but have to agree that doesn't unfortunately score enough goals and his effort on many occassions appears to be lacking.
However I would have Pablo ahead of Priskin on anyday of the week. Always felt he was a good player behind the front 2.
Hope he doesn't play Saturday because would be typical that the would score against us!
No excuse for Keane. Clegg to not have at least 1 striker in by weekend if all these players are being farmed out. We shall see.
Best of luck Pablo, if anybody can find the best from you it will be Burley.

Good. Was a big fan of Pab's first time around but its clear his time here is done. Didnt have the heart to play for the shirt or the balls (or ability?) to prove Keano wrong.

If palace are not paying the bulk of his wages then GB has another striker on his team for very little outgoing each week who he can give back if it dont work out.

What a waste of talant and ability grew up and played with some of the players that have just won the WC for Spain, has the same natural ability as them but poor in ambition perfering an easy ride and only showing glimpses of what he could do!! Late for training first in the shower!!
