Hull Source Confirms Town Bullard Approach Monday, 24th Jan 2011 17:52
A Hull City source has confirmed that Town have approached the Tigers regarding a loan move for midfielder Jimmy Bullard, according to reports in East Yorkshire.
The Hull Daily Mail reports that the source has confirmed the approach but says talks are yet to take place regarding the proposed switch.
News that Blues boss Paul Jewell was making a move for the 32-year-old, who played for him at Wigan, broke earlier this afternoon.

If he's still that good, and worth his wages, why would Hull let him go?

Good player, dont want to see his wage bill though.

He could be the new Gavin Williams! Not the calibre of player that we have previously been linked with. The only other link is an injured Luton player... Both ends of the spectrum me thinks. Not long to go in this window... let's see some action. PJ promised two signings this week. Let's have ya! (I know we have a match tomorrow which may be focusing PJ's mind...).

CanadaBlue - Where in Canada are you? I'm in Toronto. Not too many Ipswich fans out this way! Saying that, I went to a Toronto game & wore my Ipswich kit - had plenty of people coming up to me & commenting on it & how great Ipswich used to be. Almost everyone in this city supports UTD though. I'm doing my bit for Ipswich. COYB

Sign Him up! Would be a good player to have around the team. Lot's of experience and very talented. If he is being lined up to replace Norris he is more than an ideal replacement. Hope Norris stays and we sign Jimmy.

Paul, if you want the players to enjoy their football, save the money and just play Jimmy Bullard youtube video clips at half time.

Why can't we have both David Norris and Jimmy Bullard? Seems the forum here reckons Bullard would be a good loan signing - but do we really need/want more loan players? Shouldn't we be getting our own guys to sign up contracts before we start getting more loan players in - however good they are? I'm so excited about tomorrow's game. Couldn't get tickets so absolutely delighted it's on BBC2. COTB

Getting Bullard in would be bonkers. The whole idea smacks of costly short-termism. Honestly, you people! I'm not saying PJ hasn't breathed a smidgeon of hope into the place with 45 minutes of encouraging football against Donny Rovers, but the way most of you are talking about him he's just one Wilnisesque Norwich jibe away from being in the ITFC Hall of Fame.

This is a positive signing. PJ does like players who play with their hearts and souls (look at Savage),- Bullard fits this criteria. Nothing wrong with having experience in central midfield..... Finally changed my username but will stick with same avatar for now....

I would take him in a second. I only worry about how he would fit into the dressing room. Still need a right back...O'Connor at left back

@VanIsleBlue - You'd take him in a second? I suppose you'd dedicate that second to thinking deeply about how much of his supposed 40-50k per week we'll likely have to contribute to, and whether he's actually fit enough to be able to string back to back matches together. Unlike you, I have no concerns about how he'll fit into the dressing room - I'm just worried about how fit he'd be to actually make it there. Don't get me wrong, I'm a huge fan of Jimmy's but this is more akin to getting Gazza in an Ipswich shirt than having any lasting benefit to our midfield.

Risky. Looks like a short-term Norris replacement. We'll see...

Jimmy Bullard is a legend, everyone in the game knows who he is and knows what they will get by signing him. Why be negative about our first signing? ClassyIpswichLady= far too negative, support our manager and club

bullard is good by me while he has the attitude to die for this club. some of our other players are not fit to wear their shirts

Tired of talking about players that we will never sign. His wages are extortionate and we can't pay them. Bring in Adam Drury instead.

Concrete news today perhaps? A new signing would be welcome right now.

I know people keep saying find the young and up-and-coming players but our squad lacks experience and we could really do with a couple of more experienced players around the team helping them to keep things calm and show a bit of leadership.

GET HIM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! KEEP NORRIS!!!!! AND LEADBITTER!!!!!! WE WILL HAVE A STRONG SQUAD!!!!!!!!!!!! COYB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! U CAN BEAT THE GUNNERS!!!!!!!!
Keaneish added 08:46 - Jan 25
Have to agree classyipswichlass. If anything, Bullard will be have to reduce his wages massively and just be a nice 'addition' to the squad to give Norris, Healy and Leadbitter more competition (which Leadbitter needs). He's not a long term solution and the things i've heard about Jimmy he's not so much the baby faced friendly bloke he makes out! Not someone i particularly want in a town shirt. On another note. Where's everyone meeting tonight? Please lord...a nil-nil would suit me fine!

I've said this before in another post the only teams I believe to have come to ipswich and actually out played us are qpr, coventry and Derby and they all have an experienced old head in the middle of the park dictating the game so jimmy bullard Would do me great character. Suppose just like Kennedy did against arsenal but abit more attacking. Up the town

Loan signing with Hull covering a good percentage of his wages cant be bad. He is going to have to face facts that at his age and with his injury record he isnt going to command top wages anymore so if he really wants to play football for the next few years or so then he will have to take a dramatic pay cut . If not he just sits warming Hulls bench, getting paid and not kicking a ball, if thats his attitude we can do without. So lets see how much this guy wants to play shall we! At the right price a good addition, character and will give the team that certain bit of grit and experience. I would be amazed if Jewell see's this as a Norris replacement, more like a replacement for both Colback and Livermore whom people seem to forget we have not replaced.

If his fitness is a risk, then a pay-as-you-play loan deal would be the way forward.
