No Further Blackpool Bid on Quiet Last Day
No Further Blackpool Bid on Quiet Last Day
Wednesday, 31st Aug 2011 19:26

Blackpool’s anticipated further attempts to sign Town striker Jason Scotland don’t appear to have materialised and no further moves in or out are expected before the transfer window closes at 11pm this evening. Yesterday, TWTD revealed that the Blues had turned down a £350,000 offer from the Tangerines for the Trinidad and Tobago international.

The Seasiders instead turned their attention to Sheffield United frontman Daniel Bogdanovic, who has completed a move to Bloomfield Road this evening and will presumably make his debut for his new club when Town visit Lancashire a week on Saturday.

Even if the Blues had agreed a fee with Blackpool, Scotland has said he very much wants to remain with Town to fight for a starting role in Paul Jewell's side: “I’ve worked very hard in pre-season, and I don’t want to leave here. I love this place, the club and the people.”

The 32-year-old is currently back in the Caribbean having been invited to be a guest at Friday’s World Cup qualifier against Bermuda in Port of Spain along with the rest of the Trinidad and Tobago squad which played in the 2006 finals in Germany.

Coventry and Birmingham watched Scotland in action during the 2-1 victory over Leeds on Saturday, while Middlesbrough have also been linked.

The final day of the transfer window has passed unusually quietly at Portman Road with Jamie Griffiths’s one-month loan move to Plymouth the only completed business.

Town, who have already signed 11 players this summer, will now look at utilising the loan provision open to them in a week’s time with Stoke’s Wales international defender Danny Collins one of the three players manager Paul Jewell is hoping to add to his squad.

Elsewhere, Leeds defender Aidy White has lost his appeal against the red card he received during his side’s defeat to the Blues at the weekend.

It's no good when we have a hole the size of Jordan's holy land at the back.
I will be convinced if we get some cover for this preferably signed not loan.

Just a reminder of last year:

"The final day of the transfer window came and went without any moves in or out of Portman Road"

"Jason Scotland, Mark Kennedy, Márton Fülöp, Conor Hourihane and loanees Andros Townsend and Darren O'Dea have joined the club in recent weeks."

Yet people seem angrier this year than last year looking at the comments. I think I'd rather have this year's signings to be honest!!

StanwayBlue - all down to the fact that we all have our own opinions - and some OBVIOUSLY understand the game of football much better than others.............

Haaa Haaa! Some reet miserable knobs on here! Probably playing too much Football Manager in their bedrooms expecting us to fork out millions on players each time...

Chopra, Bullard, Stockdale, Cresswell, Andrews and Bowyer...
I'll take them in this division all day long. Can't believe you can quibble at these!

Happy with the signings so far. Another 2 or 3 needed and we're done. Prefer signings but that's the way it is. Would have liked Beckford or Maloney from the pick of the deadline day deals....not that either of these solve our defensive issues!

Hope Collins and Shotton sign.

@ AlanMahon2011 I feel the same pain, however, Keane had left him to rot in the reserves and when PJ played him in the cup game, he played out of postion and was slated for it,, and has not had a look in since. (Peters)

Priskin ~ Again, he has had a fair crack of the whip,he might be on good money, but i think if they dont get into the 1st team say after a few weeks, then they should not earn the full amont of money.

h32 I think 45 years of following football, and many years of managerial experience in the real world, means that perhaps I have some understanding of how football, as a sport and a business, operates. Somehow you know what I OBVIOUSLY know and don't know!

Haven't you got a project to be getting on with before school goes back next week?

WOT A BUNCH OF F''CKING OLD MOANERS !!!

11 players in one transfer window is more than enough to stablise the club ... wait until Jan when we invest well in certain areas!!!

PJ knows what he's doing !!

STOP MOANING !!!!!!

PJ targeting/ eyeing any of 40 or so players this summer. So what, give me some news. He's always eyeing and targeting. And he never lands any of them. Only frees and loans that no-one else wants. PJ out.

pretty good transfer window in my assesment, could have done with more at the back, but Sonko, Cresswell and Ingar will be fine when they settle into place.

Midfield and Forwards look good, let the team settle and come together and work on the missing pieces more in January it is a long season, we are what 5 games into a 46 game season.....not worried at this point. (Still add Arsenal have had trouble getting in players for the backline it is not just us that can't attract players)

Lets get one thing clear, I support ITFC & back all of the players when they wear the shirt, however, (IMO) Priskin has never shown the hunger & enthusiasm required, I accept he perhaps hasn't had the best of service & under Keane was playing for a manager who had no man mangement skills, but he frankly looks largely un-interested most of the time, & when given the chance to play hasn't done enough to earn another appearance, at the end of the day Priskin is a striker, he's paid to put the ball in the back of the net, & his record clearly shows he's not doing that! its ok being able to "hold the ball up" "bring others into play" "be the most skillful player at the club" (although I don't believe it!) but these attributes dont win games, goals do!
Don't get me wrong, if he finds form, passion & goals I would only be to happy to see him playing, but at the moment, if we can get a fee for him, or save wages on loaning him out I'd take it.

I think Jewell is more shrewd than some of you are giving him credit for. He has attracted better quality signings than we have seen in years. He needs to be given time to let them gel as it won't work overnight.

StanwayBlue - what makes you think you are the only one that has had '45 years of following football and managing in the real world' - would lay my credentials on the table in front of you anyday - and by the way 'sarcasm is the lowest form of wit' which of course you will know.

h32. Here you go again, what exactly is it that you do in the real world????. Are you qualified to run a large professional football club, manage players worth millions, have coaching badges coming out of your ears, or do you just get off on thinking you are so superior to the rest of us!!!!!!!!!!! StanwayBlue, enjoyed your posts sir.

Priskin is not good enough end of, anyone who doubts me clearly didn't watch him stand offside for 90 minutes, fall over whenever a defender got tight and fail to win anything in the air, let alone score goals.

Sell

Thank you Pinewood. Of course we are not the finished article but I am sure we will get at least one more defender in. It just strikes me that people give the impression that getting new players in is as simple as pressing a button on Championship Manager. When it doesn't happen someone has to be blamed!

Don't rise to it, always stating how they are entitled to their opinion shouldn't think many, if any at all take a blind bit of notice, miserable f*ckers.

StanwayBlue...I agree with you with the one exception, having been a CM player for 10yrs+ it is not that easy to get players in the game world either....and before anyone questions my age, ability to post my comments etc due to playing CM, I am 38 work in financial managment in the US, and have followed the blues for as long as I can remember.

Agree with everyone on the Priskin is not good enough posts, howevere if nobody is interested in taking him off our hands, the comments of "get rid of Priskin" become void

StanwayBlue, you are so right, give the team some time to gel & we will see a really good future for our club. Keep the faith chap........................ I,m chuffed Scotland appears to be staying too.

pinewoodblueboy - 'birds of a feather' springs to mind - my opinion will always be as good as yours, or anyone else's - NO MORE - NO LESS - and I am entitled to it, as indeed is everyone to their opinion.
Some of you think no one else should have one - unless of course it suits you to agree with it.

h32. Ofcourse you & all others on here are entitled to your opinion, it just appears that certain posters on here have more than a touch of arrogance in their views regarding matters ITFC. If our club is being run so badly, who would you & others of a more negative nature want to run, manage & generally do a better job than our current incumbents?
