Town Handed Small Fine
Town Handed Small Fine
Friday, 2nd Sep 2011 12:31

Town have been handed a small fine after pleading guilty to the FA charge of failing to control their players during the 7-1 defeat at Peterborough.

The club was accused of “failing to ensure its players conducted themselves in an orderly fashion with respect to surrounding the match officials” during the game in which both Lee Martin and Tommy Smith were sent off, the first time the Blues had ever had two players dismissed in the same match.

What a stupid accusation, implying if the players had queued up, one after another, behind the captain to protest against the red card, we would not have been fined! The FA need to fine the officials for a nightmare game, we would still have lost without their incompetence mind.

Bet the ref has not been fined for his rubbish performance ! Did the FA not acknowledge that as being the reason for the actions of the Town players ?

As long as there are pathetic rules and fines like this, referee's can continue to spoil games with rubbish decision making and hide under the cover of jokes like this...

Even though we deserved to lose that game (seriously awful) some of the decisions in that game were awful for eg. the penalty and the very harsh red card so maybe the ref deserved some flack. Other than that you may as well make it like rugby union so the captain is the only one who speaks to the ref so there's no issues in the future! Anyway, move on and look to the next game COYB!

As others have said, we now move on.

Unbelievable arrogance by the FA. Until the FA accepts that the match officials are only human (and therefore fallible) their 'Respect' campaign is going to struggle.

I don't agree with intimidating the officials, however it is incredibly difficult at any level not to question them when there is a genuine feeling that a number of important decisions are only going one way. There must therefore be a platform for open discussion and referees should not be in a position where they are afraid to say 'I didn't see it' or 'I got that one wrong.'

The only two fines that should have been handed out is to the officials who were to put it mildly incompetent and to the FA who appointed them. It's not the fine itself it is the principal of the matter. Again the spineless FA have to pass the buck of responsibility for their own failings by putting the blame elsewhere.

Still I have made my objections, and said my piece in that the FA itself is incompetent and the clubs will continue carry the bag every time the FA fails. Let's just move on now as nothing with those clowns will ever change.

Could have been worse, we could have got smacked legs as well !
Seriously, is there a body who deduct points froms refs when they have a crap game ? If so, how do you find out if he was deducted points for his shambolic performance ? As stated, it won't change the result, but I'm sure it would help ease our minds to that performance which will stay with us for a very long time.

Does that also imply that if we'd have made the recovery of all recoveries, we'd have gotten a bigger fine ?

Right so I assume Leeds will be receiving a similar fine soon? What a bloody joke!

How much is a small fine? £30? Can we please start charging match officials and others from the FA for meals and use of facilities so that we can recuperate it?

I'm assuming we only got a small fine due to the fact the FA can see the ref caused the problem by thinking he was a cricket umpire not a ref.

We were abysmal, and the two red cards could not be argued with. However, the referees performance was in keeping with the weirdness of the day.

you mean for the red card which wasn't?...which maybe warranted a yellow card at most?...the one where the ref was over the other side of the pitch and couldnt actually see it?...the one where the linesman didnt flag even though it was right in front of him...oh yeah, that red card...
