Cresswell Tribunal Today
Cresswell Tribunal Today
Wednesday, 14th Sep 2011 14:30

TWTD understands that Town could learn how much they will have to pay Tranmere Rovers for left-back Aaron Cresswell this afternoon. The clubs were unable to agree compensation for the 21-year-old when he moved to Portman Road in the summer and the matter has gone to a tribunal which is currently being held in Manchester.

The League One club are entitled to compensation despite Cresswell having been out of contract at the end of last season because he is under 24 years of age and had been offered new terms at Prenton Park.

Town made Tranmere a number of offers of compensation both before and after Cresswell signed a three-year deal at Portman Road, but we understand the Birkenhead club wanted significantly more than the Blues were prepared to pay.

Chief executive Simon Clegg and manager Paul Jewell are both expected to be attending this afternoon’s hearing.

The Football League’s tribunal procedure is run by the Professional Football Compensation Committee (PFCC), who could make their decision today or defer the matter to a later date.

I reckon he's the best signing we have made this year so whatever the cost it is money well spent compared to some

This should have been decided long ago as now Tranmere have a concrete case for a biggish fee. When we took Cresswell on no one really knew if he would take to the jump in status. The fact that he has, means we could pay well over the price that could have been decided before he kicked a ball for us. Reckon it could be £500K now.

whatever the fee "cressy" has so far been one of if not the biggest success of the season so far(we ain.t had many!?) & has 10-12 years ahead of him in a blue shirt i hope.

Tbh if the boot was on the other foot , we'd want a "proper" price for our talented kids if they left. So I say Tranmere deserve a decent fee for Cresswell who is by a country mile the best player for the future , that we have bought in many a year!

A very good signing. A shame Clegg couldn't do the deal outright ... probably going to cost around £500K. Maybe more.
