Chopra: I Should Have Scored More
Chopra: I Should Have Scored More
Saturday, 1st Oct 2011 20:48

Today's two-goal hero Michael Chopra says he should have scored more than four times this season with opposition goalkeepers having pulled off a number of superb saves in recent games. Middlesbrough’s Carl Ikeme, West Ham’s Robert Green and Brighton’s Casper Ankergren have all made memorable stops from the Blues frontman over the last week.

Chopra said: “I feel good and I think if I keep playing the way I am doing then I will add to my strikes and reach the targets that I set myself.

"I've got four goals now this season, but I think I should be on about seven but for some great saves by the keepers in recent weeks.

"But if I keep getting in the right positions then I'm sure the chances will come and then it's up to me to put them away.

"I've got a lot of belief in my abilities and I'm confident that if I'm presented with the chances then I will score my fair share."

Meanwhile, new loan signing Reece Wabara has tweeted that he was pleased with his Town debut and the Blues' victory over Brighton: “Great result for the lads, delighted with my debut. Good team spirit by the boys to turn it around.”

The pressure is off his shoulders now(the pressure all strikers put on themselves not from the supporters)and can see him getting twenty goals this season if he remains injury free...Sonko and Collins have changed this side totally - their solid defending has given the midfield the licence to go out and just play freely and express themselves...good times ahead!

It's brilliant to have someone that, when things aren't necessarily going your way and you're not on top, can pull something special out the bag, something that we've badly been missing in recent years. Chopra did that today!

Got to say I have been massively impressed with Chopra. He is a real quality player at this level. His work rate is second to none and his first touch outstanding. He will get near to 20 this season I'm sure. Real bargain at £1.5m

I've watched him quite a few times this year and he has been HUGELY unlucky. He should have got a couple against coventry, and keepers have just been determined to stop him scoring! despite that you would think he's in a bad run of form, but he has still been working incredible hard for the team. In my eyes thats the mark of a class striker and a model professional. can't help but think we got an absolute bargain here! great work by Jewell and hopefully chops can keep up the good work and get his target and us in the prem! COYB!

Churchmans
poor thing to say on a football fans website 'I will find you and kill you' even if it's from a film.
may I quote back at you
'he cannot help himself, he is a product of a relationship between his Norwich aunt and her pet dog' from the film Churchmans home movies

Chops was fantastic today. The 2 he did score however would have been tame in comparison if that first half volley hadn't hit the keeper. Are Brighton normally that negative.Reminded me of Scunthorpe a couple of years ago. Their away support must be easily entertained.

If you're talking about your shot from 4 yards against Middlesbrough it was right at the keeper and not a great save but a poor finish.

Well done Chopra, with the recent shifts you've put in for the team I knew it was only a matter of time before the goals came, well done, well deserved. In Chops strikes we trust! COYB

He hasn't scored as many as he would like but that was because he wasn't getting any decent service. Against Blackpool, no-one bar Murphy in the last minute even hit the target.

I agree with the very first poster. Its Sonko and Collins that have made the difference, allowing Edwards and Cresswell to get forward.

Got to keep Collins after the loan finishes!

Jewell said recently he was after Craig m s but thought three million was top much, have to say after yestersday I think he was right, chopra looked very good value, not only can he score his work rate is incredible!

To be fair he's missed three volleys from three yards in three consecutive games. They were not unbelievable saves, just bad attempts. But his two against Brighton were awesome and took his two against Bristol City well.

But at least he's getting in good positions and is linking well with Scotland and the midfield.

will be the best 1.5 we have spent for a long time, even when he was left up on his own he was working so hard for the team and certainly not sulking like his effort and attitude and hes obviously popular within the squad and fan base
