Swindon Want to Keep Murray
Swindon Want to Keep Murray
Monday, 9th Jan 2012 13:45

Swindon Town are keen to extend Ronan Murray’s loan until the end of the season when the Irishman’s current spell is up on January 14th. The 20-year-old has scored two goals in three starts and five sub appearances since joining the Robins in November.

Chairman Jeremy Wray says manager Paolo Di Canio is a big fan of the Town youngster, who is contracted until the end of the season: "Paolo has been very impressed with him.

“It's no secret he would like to extend it until the end of the season. If Ipswich let us do it, we'd love to and we'll see what happens after that."

Murray says he'd like to extend his time at the County Ground: “I’d like to stay. I am playing first team football and the last month and a half has been brilliant - playing games every week.

“I have enjoyed every minute and it is a brilliant club. There are not many more clubs in the country you would want to be at with all the headlines Swindon are getting."

Add another year or two to his contract then loan him back to Swindon. Got a good feeling about Murray - think he could be a cracking player for us in a year or two.

I was at Swindon's match against Wigan at the weekend, and was impressed by Murray, he was busy and showed some good touches. Thought he was unlucky to be subbed off, but could understand Di Canio looking for some more size up front. Murray isn't the biggest...

I thought that Paul Caddid, the Swindon right-back was immense. Would love to see Jewell bring him to Portman Road. At 23, already Swindon's captain, an ex-Scotland under-21 captain, and a great attacking presence combined with some gutsy defending, he is just what we need. Him and Matt Richie ran the game against Premier League opposition.

It's just a real shame that Jewell is more likely to sign a past-it retired right-back like Gary Neville rather than find someone at the lower levels who are ready to take the step up.

I would love Di Canio as manager just imagine the passion he would bring and he probably could get us some flair players Matt Ritchie looks a talent

Surely better than Ellington? Interesting that they want him unti the end of the season - not a three month loan which would see him return 11 April (i.e. ITFC's new 'signing'). Perhaps Clegg et al could go and shadow the Swindon board - he may learn something - like don't make the same mistake again with loans!!

Contract up at the end of the season along with another 15. He could go to Swindon on a Bosman in June. I do hope Town know what they are doing. Frightens me.

I wouldn't blame Murray if he wanted to stay because lets face it he is unlikely to get a real chance to show what he can do at PR under PJ, Murray is a bright prospct for us and under another Manager (which might be sooner rather than later) he should be given a chance at least on the bench being brought for impact, he is young, hungry and keen to impress why on earth would need a player like him?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

has alot of potential - so he's gonna be sold.. this club hate players with potential, and they like getting in all the players who have lost all their, so called, 'talent'!

Extend the loan by all means, as it is good experience for him. If he starts scoring regularly in League 2 then he may be worth giving a chance at Ipswich, but not at the moment I'd say.

WoodfordTim it worries me that you may well be correct. I could quite easily see them letting Murray go and signing some clapped out Norwich reject.

Would sooner see Murray make cameo appearances off the bench than Ellington.

...... for the first time in the history of the Club - youngsters don't want to be here now. Can't think why - can you ?????

No prizes for guessing ............ the blatantly obvious reason.

OUR CLUB - is just about DONE FOR.

Get him back, he can't be any worse than Ellington

My worry is who is going to be left at our club next year (and i don't just mean the many season ticket holders who must be having serious thoughts about what is going on). Just over a year or so ago we had Ronan, Connor and Jordan as three up and coming strikers and it now looks highly likely by the end of this year we won't have any of them.
