Priskin a Russian Target Tuesday, 10th Jan 2012 14:59
Town striker Tamás Priskin is a target of Russian side Alania Vladikavkaz, according to his agent. Priskin recently returned from a short-term loan spell at Derby County.
Alania, who the Blues played in a friendly in Cyprus late in the 2001/02 campaign, are currently top of the Russian second division.
Several other clubs are also keen on the Hungarian international, according to his agent Jozsef Vorosbaranyi, but with Alania heading the race: "We can say that there is considerable interest, but I want to emphasise that two or three teams are seriously interested and nothing is decided yet."
Priskin’s Town contract is up at the end of the season and the Blues would probably ask only a nominal fee for the 25-year-old or may be willing to allow him to move out on a free transfer in order to remove his wages from their books.
The frontman joined Town from Watford for £1.7 million in the summer of 2009 and has scored nine goals in 35 starts and 24 sub appearances, spending loan spells at QPR and Swansea in addition to Derby.
Meanwhile, Jewell says he has talked to a couple of his potential January targets, whose current sides evidently met the Blues on one of their better nights this season: “I spoke to two players last night about coming here — two players in different teams — and they said we’re the best team that have come to our place have been Ipswich.
"It’s just the consistency and the giving goals away that’s put us in the situation we’re in.”

Well I would have hoped to have seen more from Priskin to be honnest I think like Scotland its a time thing and postion played but well I just wish him all the best we dont have time and we cant nurture right now. As far as PJ is concerned I think to sack him now would be really difficult thing for the players and the club to rally after his departure...think about it if a manger is sacked when the team are low they always turn around and say given more time I could have produced the goods...well this way he cant complain if it does go bad and to be honnest I would like him to have a good resume not look back and shudder when he thinks of Ipswich everyone deserves the chance to clear there name the campagin now foucuses on survival and look weve got a manager whos is putting his hands up and saying yes I got a lot of stuff wrong give him some credit for that at least till the end of the season I dont beleive we will be religated nor do I think we will move up the table much but that said the campagin is at a crucial point and as much as I feel I want to see retrebution and see heads roll I do beleive PJ should be given to the end of the season to make good his mistakes with the view that his future depends on staying up of course ....would I like to see PJ heading the campagin next year will really all depend on if the results STARTING with the brums go our way every game for PJ now is a cup final and I am sure he will be running around chasing every ball in his mind himself time to reflect calm down and get some results ok. I will be at the rest of the games this season and i will watch with interest the formations and team he picks we will know very shortly if he is infact changing his thought patterens as well as the results very quickly...
Do people on here really think we will be offloading Priskin's wages if he goes on loan to a Russian second division club? I bet they pay about 20% if the truth is known, leaving Ipswich with the other 80%.
Whatever bad things Jewell has done, nothing compares with Keane's sale of low-wages Rhodes, and adding £1.3M-odd cash to that sale to buy high-wages Priskin. That will haunt us for ten years plus I reckon.
people always talk about wanting to see more of priskin, and i think those who think he should be getting more run outs are ridiculous. he's useless at best
I bet we don't recoup a fracton of the money RK wasted on him - and to think that he sold Jordan Rhodes to finance the deal. However bad PJ is (and it is pretty bad) he still has along way to go to reach the depths of Keanes reign
Okay he scored 1 good goal in a cup tie which ultimately we did not win, that does not make his 1.7M fee justifiable, probably pound for pound one of the worst ever signings that this club has made along with the 2.6M we paid for Leadbitter and who we now cannot get a bid for, says it all regarding this club's negotiating skills in the transfer market and why we now find ourselves in big, big trouble in this league.
