Town’s two new kits for the 2012/13 season will be unveiled in the first week of April. In January, the Blues announced that from now on they would be introducing both new home and away strips each season rather than every other year.

Once they are revealed, both strips will be available to view in both Planet Blue stores, where they can be pre-ordered, with the home shirts arriving in June and the away in July. Those fans pre-ordering can collect their kits a week before they go on general sale, Saturday 16th June for the pre-ordered home strips and Saturday 7th July for the away.

Town's retail manager Lee Hyde says the club and kit manufacturers Mitre have been working to tight deadlines: "We've been up against it this season with regards to getting the supply contract extension signed off as well as kit designs agreed and manufactured.

"The number of questions, tweets and emails about the kits have been steadily increasing over the last month and it will be great to finally show the fans what we've been working so hard on behind the scenes. We're extremely happy with the finished results and we're sure the fans will be too."

alex12345 added 18:06 - Mar 7 AlanMahon2011 - in fairness it's probably not Clegg's decision entirely and also it clearly states in the story "new kit every year" a month or so ago, that the majority of clubs now have new kits every year as standard procedures and to keep up with costs etc.. we have to now take part in doing this too. It's people's choice whether to buy the shirt or not and i'm sure nobody will frown upon you, should you be wearing last seasons shirt. Lets face it, i've seen plenty of people around PR wearing the old greene king shirts, fisons shirts etc... Regardless of whether they still sell these shirts in the club shop as "retro" shirts, it shows it doesnt really matter what shirt you wear, if you choose to wear a town shirt at all. On the pitch is what matters the most.

sirbenofmorlingshire added 18:14 - Mar 7 Never understood the moaning about kits and associated prices. There is no prerequisite to buy them to ‘prove your allegiance' and as far a I know it's not part of the dress code so you won't get turned away at the turnstile if you're not sporting the latest one; so if you want to buy one then pay the money and enjoy wearing it. If like me you outgrew the wearing a football shirt phase many years ago, just wear your town scarf or last seasons kit to the games (or failing that something blue!)... does it really matter, does anyone really care??? Simple business fact is all clubs know the fans will buy the kits so they roll them out as often as possible to keep the money coming in, if you can't afford them, or don't want to buy them then don't hand your money over, seems a very silly thing to get upset or out of pocket about. Alternatively buy the away kit one year and the home then next. Not sure where this notion of ‘the club are forcing me to buy it' and ‘it's a tax' come from, it's not mandatory so save your money and just enjoy the football (which is slowly improving) personally I can think of far better things to spend £45 on.

I doubt very much people will buy a new kit every year. This means having fewer made, making each shirt more expensive to produce as there are more costs involved in producing two new kits every year rather than one; design, distribution, marketing, production etc.

Bergholtblue added 19:05 - Mar 7 It's the people with kids I feel for, especially if you have a two or three all wanting the new kit because their mates in school have one. I remember the days when all the teams have the same basic shirt. You would buy a blue one then if you supported Chelsea, Everton, Ipswich or whover, you just bought their badge for your mum to sew on! If you were really flush you could buy a number to sew (yes, sew!) on too.
