Town Chasing Chambers
Town Chasing Chambers

Nottingham Forest central defender Luke Chambers could join the Blues on a Bosman free transfer as soon as next week, according to reports this evening. The 26-year-old is out of contract this summer with the likes of Leicester, Wigan and West Brom all previously linked.

Kettering-born Chambers started his career with Northampton, breaking into their first team on the final day of the 2002/03 season as a 17-year-old before establishing himself in the side. The 6ft 1in tall centre-half or right-back eventually wore the captain’s armband and helped the Cobblers to promotion from League Two.

In January 2007 Chambers joined Forest for an undisclosed fee and since then he has gone on to make 208 starts and 20 substitute appearances, scoring 21 goals, and was their captain during 2011/12.

We understand there is interest from Town but with a number of other clubs also still targeting Forest’s 2010/11 Player of the Year.

In Walberswick we trust.
There, I've said it. I now await TWTD reporting on part 2 of your positive transfer prediction.

Great (sort of) news. Just loach, maxi keep, another CB and a loan striker and we are looking way better than last year.

Good news if it happens, but then again us fans know what the next headline will most probably read............'Chambers signs for ___________ and turned down Ipswich'
Like i said its fantastic news if the lad chooses us, but i very much doubt it to be honest.

I have also rea the Forest Forums, and it is true that some fans don't seem to rate him or care that he is going. But anyone rememeber some of the comments on here regarding a certain centre midfielder that was in a similar position last summer. Arguably one of our players of the year that year, Chuck was given a tough time by our fans on his exit. Just hope that is what is happening to Chambers, more sour graps than anything else IMO

It would be a great signing, bur there's more chance of getting Luke Skywalker.

Just can't see this one happening. Can't really see anyone of any note coming in. Stay calm and enjoy another nothing season friends. We are no longer the attractive club to players that we used to be. Very very sad .... but turning out that way by the looks of things I'm afraid.

Would be a good signing but given our record I'm not getting excited until it happens!

This one is happening, just a keeper, left winger and possibly a striker to go.

saffronblue - do you not think we need another CM? I think we're looking fairly weak in the middle, only Drury looks up to playing at Championship level for me!

Jewell won't have had as much diffciulty persuading Chambers as some might think. He would effectively be joining a club with no competition in his position, knowing that he can improve a defence that cancelled out alot of our excellent goal scoring. I think we conceded the 2nd most in the league but scored the 4th most???

Anyway, Chambers (who can also cover at right back) with somebody like Richard Keogh, and then Hyam screening the back four and we would be far tighter and be able to take advantage of all the goals we are capable of scoring. Fuller could provide a useful battering ram for Chopra, Martin, JET etc. to score even more.

Would certainly be a good signing. The right age with bags on Championship experience. Concerned other clubs are after him though - as record against other clubs for players has not been at all good this pre-season.

heady, we have Drury, Hyam, Bullard, Stevenson and Carson plus the new French Guy and whilst it would be great to sign another quality midfielder I don't think it will happen and that we need a Keeper as well as a left winger as we dont have players of any note in those positions. I would play Hyam and Drury as first choice unless Jimmy pulls his finger out. Just my opinion but with cash tight I am not expecting too many coming in.

I imagine this would be his preferences, in descending order:

1. Wigan
2. West Brom
3. Leicester
4. Is anyone else interested at all? (This includes Luton)
5. Stay with Forest
6. Ipswich

Lets have a reality check guys. We were told we would be signing lots of young talent and getting them in early for when training starts. Its July 1 on sunday and they are back next week. We have signed an injured defender who cant train or wont play until Oct at the earliest. Once again we are being taken on a joyride by Evans Clegg (who would far rather be at the OLympics) and Jewell who changes with the wind. We deserve better but wont receive it from these 3 wise monkeys who treat us as fully paid up members of the mushroom club
