Mohsni Holding Talks and Keen on Joining Town Sunday, 9th Sep 2012 12:52 Southend defender Bilel Mohsni is set to hold talks today regarding a loan move to the Blues after impressing while on trial at Playford Road. On Monday, TWTD revealed that the 25-year-old would be spending the week training with Town.
According to the Southend Echo, Mohsni has said he is keen on the move and will speak to the Blues regarding the switch today.
The French-Tunisian put in an assured display and scored a 30-yard second-half strike during Friday’s 6-0 U21s victory over Cardiff City at Playford Road with Town subsequently understood to have approached the Shrimpers regarding an initial loan with a view to a permanent deal in January.
Mohsni has a year left on his Southend contract and although the League Two side are willing to let him move on, last month they turned down an offer of around £150,000 from West Ham after the versatile Paris-born defender, striker or winger impressed during a trial at Upton Park. The Shrimpers were said to want a significantly higher sum.
Football League clubs were able to sign players on 93-day ‘emergency’ loans from yesterday.

He sounds good. Anyone seen him?

looks like a long haired Anelka to me, if he plays like him - moody strops and all even - I won't be complaining too much

Ok, i've been away for a few days so I'll ask the daft question. What was a 25 year old doing playing in an under 21 game?
menacinho added 13:37 - Sep 9
Jewellinthetown, we are allowed to play three overage players in a U21 game.

I have seen him, last year Southend Vs Barnet. He was playing on the wing for Southend and scored a hat-trick two from set-pieces. He looked comfortable on the ball and caused Barnet full-back all sorts of problems in the air, bit like when we had Jon Walters on wing. I imagine he would just be used as centre back in championship though, don't think he would have the work rate to play on wing for us.

Hopefully he will have signed as quickly as possible

He's a bit of a wildcard, but worth a chance I think. How many centre backs have a goal scoring record of 18 at 54 (1 in 3) like he does at Southend?! I know he played mainly as a winger there and sometimes as a "makeshift" centre forward, but that's a decent strike rate. The worrying bits are the "last chance" he was given in December due to suspensions and not turning up for preseason training is unprofessional, so I hope he can put this sort of thing behind him if he joins Town.

Yay, nothing like signing a player who didn't want to play for his previous team so didn't bother to turn up and thus making the club get rid of him. Just they type of character we need at the club... Attitude comes before footballing ability for me I am afraid! so forgive me if I don't go ott throwing superlatives at this guy

I saw him play against us in a friendly where he started in defence and then second half up front!! Was effective in both positions..friends of mine are season ticket holders at southend and say he is quite unpredictable
Edmunds5 added 15:01 - Sep 9
I haven't seen him but I like the fact he's unpredictable, his versatility will be good aswell which will probably confuse the opposition if he switches too the wing during a game, he seems strong and physical as well as creative and can nick a goal so I'm sure he will bring alot too the team, hopefully we can seal the deal.

cobboldmassive: It may have escaped your notice that if Town do sign him, its only on a loan basis. What's to lose in this situation?
gav_g added 16:41 - Sep 9
Can he play in defence? | | |
ottovonbismark added 17:02 - Sep 9
if he doesn't get his game he will probably throw a fit and go AWOL.
cobboldmassive added 17:05 - Sep 9
RetroBlue: when all is said and done I think you will find it will only ever be a loan/permanent deal. there will be no option to send him back to Southend.
Tractamatt added 17:30 - Sep 9
Ok so he will add some bite to the team, now lets get St Leger and Higginbottom for our defense

To give PJ credit his transfer signings record isn't bad. Ingimarrson and Ellington aside Cresswell, Drury, Luongo are good signings so maybe he knows what he's doing. His record for developing young players is poor though

Worth a go,so come on Town, don't fanny around and get the guy on board.

Trust me, this guy will be worth his weight in gold if we actually like sign him - he sounds fantastic, someone who can easily make the step up from lower league football -according to southend fans, he was real class, a game-changer for them but lacking in consistency - he can play in a variety of positions - but best of all he is a complete nutter, who allegedly attacked his own teammates with a pair of scissors when he thought they weren't putting the effort in, routinely repeatedly punches the turf during games when his emotions boil over, often wasn't let on the team bus by his teammates due to his looniness, and basically either won the game single-handed or had a total meltdown and lost it - class the southend fans have turned on him after he announced he wouldn't play for them again via his facebook account....and refused to turn up to training get him in on a short term deal to see if he can cut it - but i predict great fun with this guy !!

well done jewellio, his agent phoned PR and asked for a trial. how about a swap, ellington for moshini or are we just going to pay NE's wages for another season as a benchwarmer? btw, while he's benchwarming he's keeping other players out of the squad, pay him up PJ it's an embarrassment.
