Mohsni Training With Birmingham
Monday, 17th Sep 2012 10:59

Former Blues trialist Bilel Mohsni is set to train with Birmingham City as the versatile Southend man continues his search for a new club. The 25-year-old’s chances of joining Town ended when he refused the chance to spend a second week on trial at Playford Road.

Speaking on Thursday, Town manager Paul Jewell said: “We wanted to see a bit more because we felt he hadn’t been tested and he wasn’t prepared to do that. Southend were, but the lad wasn’t and I think he’s gone back to Paris. That's over now.”

Birmingham reportedly need to move a player on in order to afford Mohsni on loan with a view to a permanent deal in January.

Probably a better move for Mohsni from his perspective. Currently Town isn't an attractive prospect for potential signings unfortunately.

Bad news for Birmingham, good news for us.
I know a player's ex-club's fans often criticise a player unfairly, but in Mohsni's case I think they may have been correct.
End of the season will probably show N'Daw to be a far better signing than Mohsni

Good player, stinking attitude... Better off without

I still think he would've been a good buy, the situation became needlessly messy through poor management (wouldn't know who was dealing with the trial so cant point any fingers).
we should've been up front with the guy about the possibility of needing the trial to go for a second week if needed before we wasted both parties times. I could understand Mohsni's frustration. I would've felt messed about and gone to look for a club that had more confidence in me as well.

He'd do a good job at this level. Never mind though, as long as we get in someone else that does a good job.

Have you ever been called back for a 2nd interview?? Usually means the employer is still interested in you. Not something to walk away from surely, unless you are something of an odd-fellow?

@cassanovacrow your having a laugh aren't you? More likely the one thing that worried PJ and his staff is the blokes attitude so they tested it and he failed miserably. Buying someone like this can make or break a team. Obviously skilled just an attitude that could be disruptive. Better of without obviously West Ham thought the same or they'd have tried harder to secure his services.

Alfromcol - Theres interviews and theres trial periods, I'd go back for a second interview, wouldn't spend a WEEK on trial somewhere to prove my worth then go back for another one. If they can't tell from the first week if you fit in you might as well look elsewhere instead of wasting your time.

Wickedblue - If I want to get the best out of someone I employ that has a temper I don't go around pi55ing them off. Works fine, just have to use tact in how you deal with people.

alfromcol - As an HR Bod i use a second interview to confirm I dont want someone as much as i do to those i do want.

If i'm still unsure I'll give them a temp to perm and not take up the option if they are shizer grande.

Sometimes the applicant isnt perfect, but i need the cover and they will do until i find the gem.

I never release staff earlier from a contract than i need to if there is no cover- i need to cover sickness or the odd defender getting injured against the soleman islands.

Missed out here I think what do we have to lose taking him on until Jan?

He probably heard about the wage structure..........

In fairness to ITFC, if everything about this player added up, he wouldn't be roaming the wilderness looking for a contract. However, it might have been worth a punt for a couple of months to find out the truth.

My concern is that PJ took him on trial and made him an offer (apparently!) and it was only because PJ is holding out for "better prospect" that he decide to try elsewhere. I'd have taken him at least until January but PJ still mucking about its going to be weeks before the side is settled. At moment we cant score but even if we do i'm still worried that we'll let more in as Smith is vulnerable and Cresswell isnt focused on playing for Town.

Cassanovacrow disagree with you as someone who has had numerous people under me in my time you can't afford to spend time placating someone with a bad attitude in hopes that you don't upset him. Show favouritism and you've lost those you're trying to manage. That is why one person with a bad attitude can destroy everything your trying build. I agree with PJ on this one. Thead made the decision he was too good to go another week, let him go.

We are a just shop window for agents and their players.

Tremendously versatile and very capable player - playing for the right Manager being absolutely key - shame we couldn't offer that.
But someone will.

I just find this whole cb siuation unbeleivable.

What exactly is pj and the club expecting, Paulo Maldini to walk through the door wanting a contract!!

Its a joke and absolute shambles, this season is already looking an absolute right off, in fact we look like were bang in trouble!

Interesting to see if Birmingham, or anyone else, takes him on, and if they do, whether he stays or walks away again if he doesn't get what he wants.

Meh. No doubt Mohsni has potential and is a spirited player but everything I've read about him indicates he's temperamental. No matter how good a player is the last thing we want is someone who's liable to upset the dressing room. Given the choice I'd rather see us sign Pezzoni.

If Brum sign him, I hope he doesn't try to take lumps out of our very small squad to prove a point ><

jewell said the other week he has had numerous offers of cb`s from agents etc and non were the right type/skill level , or basically what we were looking for. But who were these numerous Cb`s? Most of the ones in the championship are better than what we have , PL ones much better, so were they league 2 or conference players ? I want him to get someone decent in but wondering why he is so picky
