Higginbotham Would Welcome Longer Stay
Wednesday, 26th Sep 2012 10:40

New loanee Danny Higginbotham says if all goes well he’d welcome staying at Town beyond his initial one-month spell. The 33-year-old joined the Blues on Friday and made his debut as a late sub in Saturday’s 2-1 home defeat to Charlton.

Higginbotham told the club site: “We have to see how things go but if the opportunity was there to extend the loan then I’d definitely look at it.

“The most important thing for me is to play games and Ipswich have given me the chance to do that.

“Being left out of the 25-man squad by Stoke made the decision to go out on loan easier because I’m not really a player who wants to sit around and pick up my wages.”

Football League clubs can take players on loan for a maximum of 93 days outside the transfer window.

He says he talked to a couple of former Town men before deciding to come to Portman Road: “I spoke to Jon Walters and Danny Collins, who have obviously both played here, and they spoke highly of the club and I’m delighted to be here.”

Higginbotham's Stoke contract is up at the end of this season.

Its a one month deal as PJ will be gone within that time. Clear as day his days are numbered so i guess the owner only wishes to sanction short term in order to avoid the player not being the new managers cup of tea. On the other hand lets hope we go on a 10 game unbeated run with at least 6 wins in there. That way confidence from all would be far higher than todays depressed state

I may have been on the mint tea, but here's something to surprise you. I think we'll win on Saturday at Barnsley. Or if not that, I don't think we'll lose.

When Bristol City can sign George Elokobi from Wolves on a 3 month loan deal it makes you realise just how unattractive this club is to come out on loan to. All town can attract is 33 year olds and out of contract players.

Yeah see how you get on mate and as mentioned you help us stop leaking goals than you can stay for a long time (as long as we're not paying your £5,000 a week wages).

He's quality, yeah he's 33 but so is Rio Ferdinand... and we'd all take him no question, right?

A good player who reads the game and will give some of his exprences on the Field of play. I am an ipswich Supporter for the past 45 years I am like most fans who get a real buzz when we win and down when we lose. But i dont think getting rid of the Manger is the Answer. The manger has brought a few players too portman road during the transer period and for wantever reason wages could not be sorted by Glegg. So the Manger has too use want he has. I will be behind the Team when they play win, lose or Draw. I will look for the Comments during the next transer window when we dont have the money for players because too many people stayed away.Norwich supported got behind there team and that money from the high gates when back into the team.

Here's hoping you impress enough to secure a longer loan because as it currently stands Jewell is only likely to give you 4 minutes of playing time during the rest of your stay with us.

I quite like Chambers and given that Higginbotham was drafted into Forest during the second half of the campaign last year to assist the dogfight for their survival then this can only be a positive signing as well as give us another experienced player in this department.

I will not read too much into the initial month's arrangements but if it works for both of us then it has to be a reasonable arrangement. We now just have to understand how we are going to score some goals at the other end.

Team for Saturday

------------------------------------Loach--------------------------------

-------------Chambers---------Smith-----------Higginbotham----

Edwards-----------------------N'Daw----------------------Cresswell

--------------------Luongo----------------Drury----------------------

----------------------Scotland-----------Chopra----------------------

A bit different from what we've been doing, but might freshen things up? never know. Just my opinion.

Lukeyboy-

That's exactly the formation I was thinking the other night, think that would make us much more solid and would allow Edwards and Cresswell to do what they're best at, I would maybe play one striker and JET behind though, Is Chopra back from injury for Sat then?
