Keane Off to Turkey
Keane Off to Turkey
Sunday, 30th Sep 2012 11:41

Former Town boss Roy Keane is set for a return to management with Turkish side Kasimpasa, according to various reports. Elsewhere in this morning’s tabloids the Blues are linked with a loan move for a Manchester City midfielder, who has already moved on elsewhere.

Keane has been out of management since leaving Portman Road in January 2011 but is said to be on the verge of joining the Turkish top flight side, who are based in Istanbul, in the next couple of days.

Last week’s failed move for Blackpool-bound QPR striker DJ Campbell is reported in one of this morning’s papers, while Manchester City’s Abdul Razak — who impressed against Town while with Brighton last season - is claimed to be joining the Blues on loan, however, Charlton confirmed his signing yesterday.

Elsewhere, Town have paid Brentford £4,000 to formalise the signing of 14-year-old schoolboy Daniel Muamba, the younger brother of former Bolton man Fabrice, who has been with the academy for some while.

Don't care about Keane. Main topic should've been about Daniel Muamba!

Keane is a bizarre choice for the 15,000 capacity side in Turkey whose players are nearly all Turkish - a few communication problems I think!

The Star ran an article the other day which said Keane spent £9.0M in fees (I think it was more as they didn't have Fulop, Healy or Hourihane on their list) and received £4.4M, whereas Jewell has spent £4.4M and received £8.1M.

Given that our current manager has turned a £3.7M transfer fee profit and reduced the wage bill down to £6M, what are the clubs expectations for how well we should do this season? Have our ambitions been slashed without the fans explicitly being told? A few years ago it was almost a case of when we go up rather than if, but now we are further away from that then ever and it's a big concern that our rivals seem to be investing much more than us.

Of course, we can't use money as a reason for not beating Charlton or Barnsley as both of those have far tighter budgets than us.

Has anybody warned them about this man - no doubt Keane loves to use the universally known sign language to communicate, he's great at man management!

Keane? Turkey?

I give him till Christmas.

:-)

RK could still make a decent managerial career for himself, but he's got to pick up the pieces from his time at Portman Road. I still have major doubts over his man management abilities.

Looking at how many managers this club has had (Keane is the 9th in 5 years) this will be one heck of a challenge for him. Clearly some very impatient owners - they had a decent start to the season too, beating Fenerbahce.

And one irrelevant fact; Kasimpasa is the equivalent to Old Kent Road in the Turkish monopoly board. Clearly Roy will live in another district of Istanbul then. Will he allow the same of his players?

But good luck to him. If he cracks this one then you may be seeing him soon in a stadium near you...

Turkey is not far away enough from Portman Road for my liking!

He left Ipswich tarred and feathered, so he'll be a good fit in Turkey.

I imagine it will be tough convincing former Sunderland players to move to Turkey.

Turkey. Great news for anyone supporting a club in this country where the manager might be for the chop. Cluck off Roy
