Campbell at Town
Friday, 5th Oct 2012 10:09

TWTD understands that QPR striker DJ Campbell is at the club this morning as he closes in on the completion of his loan move to the Blues.

As reported a week ago, Town first targeted the 30-year-old ahead of the Barnsley game with Paul Taylor and Michael Chopra both sidelined at the time, but were rebuffed with Blackpool appearing the favourites to sign their former player.

Taylor is out for at least another five weeks with a cracked bone in his foot, while Chopra is over his thigh strain.

Meanwhile, new midfield loanee Richie Wellens will wear the Town number 16 shirt.

Good player at this level but I would like to see Scotland play - he was superb when he came on Tuesday and really upset the Brighton centre halfs with his strength and holdup play. Gave us a real outlet

At the moment think id rather campbell up top with scotland over chopra. Scotlands looked impressive lately and think he deserves it.

This is a good move in my eyes. Proven at this level and although short term loans arent ideal, if it doesnt work out it doesnt matter too much. Would start Chops and Scotland up top tomorrow with DJ on from the bench just because hes only signing today. But moving forward id go for Chops and DJ starting with Big Jase on from the bench. I just feel Jase has more to offer from the bench these days although he has looked sharp every time ive seen him this year.

I don't think anybody is in favour of all these loan players but this is one player I feel WILL make a difference .... If it happens welcome DJ ...

Wellens and Campbell are class operators at this level and experienced.

With N'Daw and Higgingbotham we are now looking a far more solid and dangerous squad.

Could ITFC become the first club to field a whole XI of players who are not on permanent deals? Only need 4 more "foreigners".
Good job from those responsible for the background checks on Chopra and Coppinger too.
What a joke, the club's a laughing stock!

If this leads to a possible permanent deal (and I can't seem him ousting Zamora or Cissé at QPR) this could be a really good move (looks like Ellington is a gonner).

However, like many others, I'm pretty disappointed that we keep loaning in new guys. Where does Wellens' arrival leave Higham, Drury, N'Daw and Luongo, especially if he's only here for a bloody month? I suppose it at least shows PJ is trying to buck his ideas up...

Reckon we can get the 3 points tomorrow. We all have one thing in common. So hopefully tomorrow can spark a revival & unite everyone who work, play & support this great club.

Hope he does sign for us, this would bring much more goal power which is needed more now the defence has been steadied by the arrival of Higgoibotham. Upwards and onwards!

Have to agree with these loans, but also feel we have too many.
We seem to get loans bulid a team then off they go and the end of the season we are team building again.

Would like to see these play signed up if they work out, feel that Drury has not got the quilty we need but always give 100% more of a bench players for me, Hyam still not ready but can see he will become one for the future.
For me a midfield of Wellen and N'Daw would be better.
Dont think Chopra is going to do the job for us as he seems to have too many problems at the minute, a Campbell and Scotland/Murphy would be better, Carson on the right as he has more good games than Jet and Martin on the left.

If we dont start climbing the table with those names on the team sheet ,it has to go down to Jewell because on Paper thats a team to fear.

Not knocking Jewell as he has the club at heart very much like Magilton, its just if he can get a system to suit the players.
Sir Bobby had a team of average players and found a system that got the best out of the players and then added the odd class player (Muhren Thijssen)

We do lack pace up front. Scotland has been terrific and Chops isn't that quick.

Real pace and/or height could really make a difference.

Hope Scotland won't be cast aside, he's my man of the season so far!

Campbell and Scotland have history, so it should work out

The Campbells are a recognised Clan up in the Highlands and supported 'Robert the Bruce'

We shall see if they can put those Welshmen to the sword

Definitely worth a punt, hope we get him longer than a month and with a chance of a permanent deal if he does well.
