Clegg and Carlos at Supporters Club AGM
Monday, 8th Oct 2012 09:53

Chief executive Simon Clegg, skipper Carlos Edwards and a member of the coaching staff will be the guests at the Official Supporters Club’s AGM on Wednesday 24th October in the Legends Bar at 7.30pm (doors open 7pm). As in previous years, the trio will answer fans’ questions from the floor.

All members of the Supporters Club are welcome to attend the AGM with evidence of membership required on the door. You are a Supporters Club member if you have a season ticket, are a Silver Card member, a Junior Blue or a member of one of the 32 affiliated branches.

As last year, fans unable to attend the AGM in person can submit questions in advance and have them asked on the night either by posting them in the comments below or by emailing them to itsc78@btinternet.com.

The Supporters Club plans further events where club officials will meet fans from across the country over the course of the season.

Will supporters be vetted prior to entry in terms of questions they are wanting answers from? This type of "event" in my opinion is now completely insignifcant anyway in the current day.

No vetting of questions, free for all from floor as in previous years.

Remember to offer Clegg a fanzine, It seems he may not have got one on Saturday for some reason.

Phil have you ever known the club to be so distanced from the fans? It will be an interesting evening then as we have continually been told one thing and the same happens each year, no long term vision or planning and once again an over reliance on loan players to get us out of an early season hole.

In addition to the loan situation, the continual stance of allowing saleable players run their contracts down or letting them leave on a free transfer is unreal. Despite PJ's statement that this would NEVER happen again in the future. I really feel sorry for Jewell as he seems to be working under considerable constraints, his only failings is producing for the last two seasons squads that have severe imbalance ie. last season no regular goalie but a vast array of central midfielders and this season no centre halves yet once again a vast array of central midfielders. Add to that he stated that we (quite rightly) require a tall strong striker and then we spend big on Taylor who is a totally different player then I have to ask who is actually making these decisions? The "customers" are not satisfied.

""A member of the coaching staff"? Where is PJ? He should be there side by side with Carlos and the CEO facing the music. Otherwise it appears that the event does not seem to carry the importance which the fans, the customers!, believe it should. Or more crucially it might be seen as a sign that a change is imminent.

Will Clegg have an armed guard with him?

To start with a positive, it's good that Clegg and Edwards (I can't imagine Leadbitter doing this) will face the fans although I too wonder why Jewell won't be there.

Where to start really...it's the whole direction of the club we have to ask about. What is the strategy going forwards? As fan's we'd like it to be investment in young players and there has been some of that recently, but why did we not focus on it more last season and why are we again resorting to short term loans? (SEVEN at the club!!) It feels incoherent and cobbled together.

The failure to deal with contracts has been a big failing, letting players who cost us about £9M altogether walk out of the door for free. Why does this keep happening, Lee Martin being the next one likely to leave for nothing after we spent £2M on his transfer fee according to the press.

Ticket prices is discussed every year and will be again I expect. The cheapest seat on the day against Charlton was £31.50. The cheapest seat against a team who were in League One last year! We need to scrap the silly game banding system and return to more affordable prices that are constant.

Finally, is there enough football knowledge at the top of this club? Who in the Boardroom brings football experience? Isn't the lack of this a failing?

Regarding comments about Paul Jewell's possible attendance, he was at last year's. As far as I'm aware who out of the coaching staff attends is yet to be confirmed, hence vague billing.

Question for Mr Clegg: "Paul Jewell has requested players and these players have then not been secured by yourself. Why are you not willing to pay the transfer fees, agents fees and wages to secure the players that the manager has request? Surely if you don't want to spend the money - you should not have brought in a manager who prefers to bring players in to build his team rather than develop the ones he has inherited? It seems his strategy and yur strategy are not alined. Surely it makes sense to either back his strategy - or bring in a manager who matches yours?" Bit long winded so if you get the chance to use this question feel free to ad lib or abreviate!

Have been to several of these and shareholders meetings and I have as yet to see hardly any criticism during Magiltons Keanes or Jewells tenure. In fact the majority of attendees seem to even resent anyone daring to ask hostile questions.Perhaps this year it will be different,I bet it would be at any other club.I feel the 'Powers that be' get a very easy ride here;but then the club are now in the worst position, in my opinion, since I started following them 50 years ago.

Question for mr clegg - does mr clegg and the board not think it is time to change something either the buying policy or the manager to try and get back the revenue we so desperately need. In the 5 years I have been a season ticket holder I have seen attendances drop by 8000 is this good business ?

I want to know why it's not until we get our target player to the club (after weeks and weeks) that we find out we can't agree terms thus making ITFC look silly and giving the manager little time to sign similar alternatives.

I'm sure other clubs suffer from this but seem particularly prone.

... and I've thought of a question for Carlos .... What's his favourite position (on the pitch)?

i have a simple question (one of dozens, but I don't want to be greedy):

Why, despite being promised otherwise last season, are we still failing to deal with contracts in a timely manner? If the answer to this is that the club needs to ensure it's Championship safety first, doesn't this mean that, whilst in the Champ, we will always have the same problem? (as we will never be sure of our Champ safety until at least a few months into the season).

rugbytomc I can phrase this question easily,

Clegg, why wont PJ square peg fit in your round hole?

On another note, Clegg, if we go down due to poor planning and managment can we be assured ME wont try to bleed what little revenue we have left here and leave, thus demanding the rest of his owed money back?

Q for Mr Clegg. Why won't you do us all a favour and do one?

Well - I guess attendees will leave suitably impressed after Clegg has said his bit once again.
