Lengthy Deals for New Duo
Wednesday, 31st Oct 2012 18:33

Town’s new management team of Mick McCarthy and his assistant Terry Connor will be joining the Blues on three-and-a-half year contracts, TWTD understands. Their appointments will be announced on Thursday with the duo taking control of Town for the first time when they face Birmingham at St Andrew’s on Saturday.

Former Blues skipper Matt Holland has been widely tipped for a coaching role but we understand that that the former midfielder, who played for McCarthy with Ireland, will not be on the new manager’s staff.

McCarthy was installed as an early favourite for the job vacated by Paul Jewell a week ago with talks taking place over the weekend and into the early part of this week.

I've heard that Terry Connor has a release clause for when a managers job comes up. He doesn't want to be a number 2 for very long. My guess is that once he leaves Matt will replace him.

Mick McCarthy is an Aquarian (born with the Sun in Aquarius) and thereby follows in the fine tradition of both Sir Alf Ramsey and Sir Bobby Robson who are also Aquarians.

This gives a basic resonance and chemistry with the fans and Club which is definitely positive. He will thereby be able to align with the spirit of the Club, to build and carry on a fine tradition and bring ITFC closer to the fulfillment of its potential, thus making fottball lovers all over the world happy seeing them play the ITFC way.

I think the long contract could work the other way... if a larger Prem club comes in we would get large compo too.

Fully support this potential appointment. Not my first choice but, when Megson, Brown & Shearer are being mooted, this kicks them into the long grass.

Damn, hope it works...

In regards to the Matty Holland thing, just been listening to drivetime on talksport (with MH presenting with Jason Cundy) and Adrian Duram (who was on the phone talking about the epic Arsenal game last night) made a very intesting comment which I'm sure he said 'have a great disaster at Ipswich Matt', they then had Paddy from Paddy Power on and he was 'teasing Matt' for info, but ever the true pro, Matt didn't rise to the quizzing... however his reactions (for me anyway) suggested there was something afoot. Sorry to fuel speculation, but it's what I heard about an hour ago on the radio... Did anyone else hear it earlier?

No Matt Holland! Now this is very poor. Perhaps its time we showed them to the door!

i think mick mccarthy is a good choice to take us forward. He will demand the respect of the players and im sure will have no problem getting the ones who seem to have lost their fight back into shape. I also suspect he will have no problems weeding out the ones who seriously don't care.
He will definitely have an influence in sorting out our defensive issues we've had for a while.. hopefully realising that carlos edwards is not a right back!
I would like to see maybe a bid for sylvain ebanks blake too in january, im sure we'll see some old faces used to Mick joining us soon.
Look forward to the new ITFC let's get this club back to where we should be.

Well I just hope this works out because it is not my first choice. The EADT have said that we could have had Holloway but wouldn't pay the release fee. If this is right then second best is never good and, remember, this is the third attempt.

Took Millwall into play offs and Sunderland and Wolves into the Premiership. He may not personify total nutmegs, but he's the right man for the moment. Then again until the deal is done we must live in fear that MM will sleep on second thoughts, wake up, smell the coffee and decide we're not his cup of tea after all.

sorry but it goes to prove evans ain't got no ambition for town what so ever, MM aint done nothing in his time as a manager, and i don't think he will do anything for us( apart from kick some arse in the dressing room)

Fantastic News. You are a brave man taking us on in our current state. You will need some luck, but I believe we will have made a fantastic appointment - when officially confirmed.

What else are we going to learn about the contract negotiations?
A lot more professionalism is what is wanted and it has to be applied to every aspect of the club.

Terry Connor is probably a bigger piece of the puzzle than Matty H at the moment, so i'm not disappointed by this. I think TC has a very good reputation within the game, from what i read.

I hope that Matt does do something directly with the club again before too long, i have a feeling that he would be a good influence on the players, and i think they'd be jealous of his (deserved) status with the fans- maybe they'd aspire to some of what he gave us!

Well I will hold judgement until the club announces it as TWTD reported 24 hours Yesterday.

However if the above is accurate, I think its good that the club are willing to give him a good long deal so he can actually build a squad.

I have also heard on the star Town talked to Holloway but couldnt agree compensation with Blackpool over £600K so it seems Town were always lukewarm on him.

If I had to choose I would probably plump for McCarthy although would have loved Matty Holland back at the club.

Don't understand where all this Matt Holland rumour came from in the first place. He has no previous coaching experience and/or assistant manager experience and apart from playing under MM why would MM appoint him?

That aside, we need to get behind the boss. This is backs against the wall stuff and anything past avoiding relegation should be taken as a bonus.
