Hyam Will Start Against Forest
Monday, 26th Nov 2012 10:06

Blues boss Mick McCarthy has confirmed that Luke Hyam will replace Nigel Reo-Coker when Town take on Nottingham Forest at Portman Road on Tuesday evening (KO 7.45pm). Reo-Coker suffered a hamstring problem during Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Peterborough.

McCarthy says Reo-Coker’s condition will be checked out more closely today: “They’ll look at him again this morning.

“They didn’t think it was as bad as they first thought, but he has no chance for tomorrow and I would think no chance for the weekend. I hate ruling people out, let him get assessed this morning and we’ll know a bit better.”

The Blues boss says 21-year-old Hyam, who came on as a sub on Saturday, will be in Tuesday’s team from the off: “He got a lovely reception and I hope he gets a lovely reception on Tuesday night when he starts.”

Midfielder Guirane N’Daw suffered a cut to the head against Posh but McCarthy says the Senegalese international isn’t considered a doubt: “I saw him yesterday but he was struggling to see me!

“But he’s fine, I’m certain he’ll be OK. I thought he was excellent the other day, he continued to battle, he was great.”

Aside from that, McCarthy says the rest of the squad are fit with the exception of Paul Taylor, who is expected to miss the season having undergone foot surgery: “A few bumps and bruises but they’ll all be fine.”

The Town manager says new loan signing Tyrone Barnett will come into the squad and had praise for keeper Stephen Henderson, who looks set to keep his place in goal.”

Hopefully Luke shows what he can do and makes the position his own

If Barnet and Mohsni are not playing I am not going or even listening to the radio. Cannot take any more gutless performances.

I'd like to see Mohsni get a start.

The team has improved all ready. Let's hope Reo's hamstring takes a while to loosen up

we need energy in the middle if we play 442 and Hyam will help on that front. If we play 351 away from home , then reo cocker needs to be deep lying protecting the back 4. He can read the game and tackle ,but his energy is suspect to me. I hope we start with Barnett and Dj up front. That will cause problems for Forrest....

All good other than Henderson. Cant see how Mccarthy praised him for saturday, thought he was dreadful the same as all the other games hes played! GET LOACH IN!

Would love to see Barnett start as long as he is match fit he and DJ would cause most in this league problems and I'm glad to see NDaw and hyam playing but am left a little confused as to where the creativity in the middle of the park will come from! also let mohsni I loose on them at half time if our performance is anything like Saturday he will fire them up or beat them up!

I think Loach should play as he is our own player BUT Henderson did make two or three cracking saves saturday and was not at fault for the goal. he certainly does not deserve the abuse that he got from some of the so called FANS. Moshni is still so uknown dont think you can start him, but DEF want to see Barnett who will be hungry after his issues....... also strikers quite often score on debut and we def need a goal or three :-)

There is now lots of pressure on young Hyam, loads of supporters have been calling for him to have a run in the team. Hope he lives up to the expectations.

Yes he (Hyam) needs a run in the team not the occasional start, and as others have mentioned let's see Moshni as well, what's the point of having on loan if we can't see at least 45 minutes of football from him.

Reo Joker - Saw him at Palace , Leicester and on Saturday - He was woeful - cant move more than 2 yards , is so out of condition it is embarrasing , cant pass , and doesnt tackle - ideal attributes for a CM - LIving in the past - there was a reason he was without a club - we seem to be a rehabilitation club - Chopra , Reo Joker - Hyam deserves his chance on merit over RJ not due to injury - I like MM and believe he will do well but not sure about his insistence on playing N'Daw and RJ together - three points vs NF will be amazing - COYB

He should be playing anyway. Nigel Reo Coker was a superb player a few years ago but is not the kind of player that we need in the centre of midfield at this time.

He will have his work cut out tomorrow, Forest midfield will probably boss the game. Still, it will be good to see him start.

Glad to see that Luke is to get a chance tomorrow night. he deserves to be in the team on merit he's better than Reo Coker atm. Would also like to see Scott Loach get a chance in goal don't think that Hendeson was worthy of the praise MM gave him on Saturday.Alaso think it's time to give Higginbottom a rest as he haseen awful of late.

It will just be good to see a local player given full out guts for the cause, the least we can ask for at this time is for the players to give everything and you will always get that with Luke.

We usually seem to get better results with Hyam in the team, and he can't do worse than Reo-Coker's performance on Saturday.

I am not sure why Mohsni seems to have almost a hero status, as he looked a bit out of his depth in the limited minutes I have seen him, albeit he works hard.

Henderson made good saves Saturday which stopped us going behind, so deserves praise for that. Overall he has not been good though and must realise the comments about wanting to get back in West Ham's first team have alienated him here with many supporters.

bluefeast, if we're playing 351 away from home, then it's not surprising that we're at the bottom of the table!

I would never wish an injury on anyone but Reo Coker was an absolute waste of space on Saturday. Hope Hyam proves to us all why so many rate him so highly and that he makes that place his.

Agree with Mark re Moshni - hardly anyone has seen him play and yet many want him to be on the field. I think its because he seems to be a bit of a character and promises some passion but, can he perform. If we we're middle of the table then why not, but right now ....not so sure.
