Town Linked With Manchester United Defender
Friday, 22nd Feb 2013 13:01

Town reported to be targeting a loan move for Manchester United defender Reece Brown, the 21-year-old younger brother of former England international Wes.

Earlier this season, central defender Brown made 10 appearances while on loan at Coventry, alongside January signing David McGoldrick, before being recalled to Old Trafford.

England U20 international Brown, who is 6ft 3in tall, has previously had spells on loan at Bradford, Doncaster and Oldham, and has also played as a holding midfielder and at full-back.

The Blues are believed to be amongst a number of clubs interested in taking Manchester-born Brown on loan.

Speaking earlier this week, manager Mick McCarthy played down the chances of adding anyone else to his squad on loan: “I’m not going to let any of my own players go out because I can’t take any more loans really. Well, I can, but I’d have to leave one of the loans I’ve got off the bench.”

Brown will want to play, and ITFC will want to stick with the Smith-Chambers partnership, so with Kisnorbo already at the club I don't think this will be happening.

No thanks, exactly the sort of short termist signing we don't need!

From what MM said earlier this week I don't think there is anything in the story anyway.

Stick with Smith and Chamners rather than acting as a man utd reserve side.

Can't see any truth in this, more than well covered at the back due to the versatility of Chambers, Stearman, Smith and Kisnorbo. If we were to take a loan it would have to be a creative midfielder to cover the loss of Wordy, but I can't see us getting anyone unless one of the current loans gets recalled

Think it would be a good addition to the squad. Don't think Kisnorbo is a reliable back up as he's injury prone, especially with Tommy Smith playing some games in Asia rather than play for us next month.

If we could sign any youngster on loan from United we should be looking at Nick Powell. Would add the creativity that is currently lacking....not sure how realistic though!!

to be honest i don't see any reaon why not? if we get an injury then he's good cover and i have my doubts about Kisnorno - he seems to be a wee bit injury prone. Plus maybe he'd be good cover for RB/LC/CDM if needed at some point! Increase squad size and competition, thumbs up!

Not the time for untested youngsters. We need blood and guts.

Ironic that it was Cleggy not Boyd who had no vision in that deal.

We would have no trouble creating chances with Boyd in the side.

I disagree - we just need quality

Not that I thought I would be saying this earlier in the season but the defence is fine at the moment.

Its midfield where we need something more. Its crying out for a creative player who gives us something different to what we currently have!
