Town Again Linked With Camp
Saturday, 18th May 2013 10:41

Town are again being linked with Northern Ireland international keeper Lee Camp. The 28-year-old held talks with the Blues in January but eventually joined Norwich City on a deal until the end of the season.

Blues boss Mick McCarthy is likely to be looking for at least one goalkeeper during the summer with Arran Lee-Barrett and Jason Brown having been released. Scott Loach is currently Town’s only senior glovesman.

Former Forest and Derby man Camp, who was also only offered a short-term deal by the Blues in January, has made only one start and two sub appearances since moving to Carrow Road, but has said he would consider staying on if extended terms were on offer.

Despite admitting he’d prefer to be playing more regularly, he said: "If circumstances are right and it ticked all the boxes it's something I'd look at.”

For me, Loach has done enough to be considered number one. Apart from under Jewell when most players struggled, Scott has been very good and clearly cares a lot (which is important).

We definitely need a number two though, preferably one who provides good competition for Loach.

I would not opt for Camp as he chose Norwich over us in January and there would be problem with fans accepting him because of that. We don't want another Andy Marshall.

Get Henderson back! I'm afraid he's a lot better than Loach!

you have to question someone's attitude when they go to a club knowing that when everyone's fit they're 3rd choice (behind Ruddy and Bunn) He can stay at Camp Scum and rot!!!!

Not 100% certain about Scott Loach who I feel is reluctant to come off his line, and like Matteo Sereni is a good stopper;but similar to our former Italian keeper the ball doesn't always stick.

However happy to leave it to MM TC and the chief scout to decide who comes in,and the management team to decide who becomes ITFC No1.

A good keeper. People need to look beyond petty rivalry, it's playground stuff.

No thank you ... Loach is my first choice . Tom Heaton wouldn't of been a bad option for competition but he has just signed for Burnley i think . Maybe Craig Gorden still has something to offer after a few years of injury hell . IMWT

Scott did great when Henderson went back to West Ham but pazelle is right that Hendo still a better option.

I'd think the thing we should be looking at more is a decent goal scorer as it seems MM has mainly got the defence sorted we need someone who is going to get a few goals next season maybe looking down the lower leagues at someone like Tom Pope would be a good idea might be worth a shot can't be no worse than some we have at the club.

NO WAY he chose Norwich over us clearly shows that he is not passionate about Ipswich Loach is an Ipswich boy and loves this club. Towards the end of last season showed us why he is here get behind loach

With all due respect, as much as I do like Loach; I think Camp is a much better goal keeper. I'd be happy with SL as number one but if MM can bring in better quality then why not Camp?
On a different subject, a friend of mine who I play Sunday football with is a good buddy of Micheal Chopra, and according to him Chopra has been slating the club and his fellow players. He believes if Ipswich weren't so "sh*t" he would have banged in 30 goals this season.

I agree with Souper Jim, out of contract good keeper a no brainer for me, leaves more of the budget for the likes of Stearman ect. Go for it Mick.

Loach and camp would be two excellent championship goalkeepers so why not? The more competition the better!

The problem is no one is at the club to remember the mistake of signing Andy Marshall. I didnt have a problem with signing our rivals player of the season for free... but plenty did and made their feelings known.

The crowd never got behind him and every mistake was magnified. That minority of fans probably cost us a place in the play offs that year.

A problem best avoided.

Loach for No1!!
