Evans's Sponsorship Continues
Monday, 20th May 2013 18:36

Town’s shirts will bear the name 'Marcus Evans' once again next season with the club’s owner extending his company’s sponsorship for a further season. The new home and away shirts upon which his logo will appear will be revealed later this week.

Joint-managing director Ian Milne told the club site that alternatives were explored but in the end the Blues’ owner decided to extend his previous five-year deal for an additional season: “Marcus’s initial shirt sponsorship agreement with the club was up at the end of 2012/13 but he had decided to extend that for another year.

“We did speak to a number of local and national companies regarding shirt sponsorship of Ipswich Town and there was interest.

“We could have pursued that further but Marcus is aware of the benefits of the sponsorship and is happy to continue with his name on the front of the shirts for next season.”

No Harry 10

Whilst Aviva has higher turnover, it was the Marcus Evans conference section that had a turnover of 12 million, it's main function is providing services to other Marcus Evans companies, infact Evans isnt even a director of Marcus Evans conferences. The parent Company Marcus Evans UK Holdings and the big company Marcus Evans LTD (which is registered in Bermuda) Have much higher turnover figures, far more comparable to Aviva.

Also ITFCs turnover last year was 15 million so it's hardly likely that ME companies would have a turnover of less.

I think the reason Marcus Evans has done another year sponsorship is hoping for promotion to PL where he would get a more lucrative offer of sponsorship, rather than say a 3year deal in championship because he have 2years to run in PL if we got promoted next year!

No Harry 10 your figures are completely inaccurate.

Marcus Evans conferences has a turnover of 12m. That is a very minor part of the business and Evans isnt even a director of it (it provides services to other ME businesses in the main) Marcus Evans UK Holdings is the UK parent company and the Bermuda registered Marcus Evans Ltd is the main company for the group. As ITFC have a turnover of 15m it's hardly likely ME group would have a turnover of 12m is it?

-I do agree though as the 6th biggest insurer in the world it is likely AVIVA has a substantially higher turnover!!!

I would have thought loans.co.uk would have been the most appropriate sponsor . . . . .

On the face of it you would have thought that external sponsorship would have brought in new money to the club, but hey, ME is likley to get tax advantage on paying for sponsorship - ie his company pays for sponsorship, which is a company expense, which reduces his CT liability. Bingo, more bucks for ME

HARRY10 - is that just the UK turnover for MEG, though? For that matter, the football subsidiary of MEG (otherwise known as ITFC) turned over more than £12m on its own.

Doesn't negate your point, tho - Aviva is a huge business.

apologies to all, sat in out patients much of last night (all ok) and trying to reply on smart phone - was just gobsmacked that someone could have dismissed Aviva as some silly little sponsor, however it comes down to how much the club is getting, not te size of the sponsor, and I

If there were money available we would have confirmed the signing of Tabb and Stearman already. Some positive vibes mixed with some same old, same old in the transfer market so far . . . . . .
