Town’s first-team squad was back at Playford Road today ahead of the official start of pre-season on Monday.

The players — including this summer’s three confirmed new additions Daryl Murphy, Cole Skuse and Jay Tabb — underwent tests having been given summer programmes by fitness coach Andy Liddell.

After their first full week back at the club, Mick McCarthy is taking the squad to Ireland for a training camp, which will be followed by the summer's first pre-season friendly against Dublin side Shelbourne on Saturday 6th July.

runningout added 17:26 - Jun 21 Hope the chaps are up for a very tough season.. not too much change from last seasons squad, which bothers me a fraction.. fit again Taylor a bonus, but not a squad improvement.. said before we should push the boat out, and attempt to bring in Brad Freidal, Scott Dann from Blackburn, Stephen Hunt ex Wolves, the Bristol City forward whos name escapes me.. that's for starters :/
