Foreign Interest in Chopra
Sunday, 23rd Jun 2013 09:20

Blues striker Michael Chopra is a target for Turkish side Bursaspor and Russian club Spartak Moscow, according to a number of this morning’s papers. Chopra was told he could find another club at the end 2012/13 despite having a year remaining on his contract at Portman Road.

The 29-year-old has repeatedly said that he's in no hurry to leave Town but with his opportunities likely to be limited with the Blues in the new season, may well be up for a switch abroad if either club - or any other suitors - firm up their interest.

Elsewhere, the Blues are again reported to be targeting a loan return for West Ham keeper Stephen Henderson, as TWTD revealed last week.

Titus Bramble’s training return to Town — as reported here yesterday — is claimed to be the possible precursor to him rejoining the Blues by one paper, however, it seems more likely that the 31-year-old — a free agent following his release by Sunderland — will be picked up by a Premier League club.

Ex-Blues loan striker Tyrone Barnett is a target of Millwall in the wake of Peterborough United’s relegation to League One.

Either's fine by me. Everyone who has left UK for that neck of the woods seems to have disappeared off the radar.

An unfit, injury prone Ebanks-Blake or a hit and miss liability Chopra?

Tough call but the 18k a week wages tip it in Ebanks-Blake favour for me despite two serious injuries and not even being fit until October!!

The Russian clubs will be able to offer Chops more money than he can reject, he'll move!

He'll do whatever makes him the most money : which is probably to stay with us and watch from the stands. I assume if we pay him off we will deduct the vast sum that we gave him to pay off his debts? Scum.

He has brought so much of the criticism on his own head, but I am struggling to think of another ITFC player who has become quite so unpopular in his time at the club.

Of course, if any representatives from Bursaspor or Spartak are visiting this website, we would want them to understand that the criticism is meant ironically, and that he would be a wonderful addition to either squad.

(Ahem).

A man to Man talk? I don't think so. He has a gambling addiction at the very least and those that have that addiction (as with other addicts) will say and do anything to get out of admitting their problem and living up to the expectations that others expect of them. The only interesting thing may be that the Russian Mobsters are probably a little more firm in their requirement that losing bets are paid off. He may find himself legless with a few poor bets over there.

Will he go? We can but wish.

Please let this come true! We need to get him off our wage bill more than anything. Think it would be good for him to move abroad though and start fresh.

@Kentish_Tractor, if were going to send Chops to the moon, might as well send him to Carrow Road. That also has no atmosphere

Not seeing son shouldn't be an excuse. The boy lives in Newcastle with the mum (and may I add she is drop dead gorgeous! Clearly only saw money in MC). Ipswich to Newcastle by car is 7/8 hours, by train 5. Turkey or Moscow by air to Newcastle is roughly the same.

wonder if he can be bothered to keep himself in shape?

while I wouldn't be bothered if he was to go, I also would be ok with him staying if he was to knuckle down and start scoring goals for us. all things said hes still the most natural goalscorer on our books. have been various reasons why he hasn't performed, not all down to him(being played as a lone striker for instance), as well as the obvious well publicised problems hes had. while I do believe hes been stupid to make many of the comments hes made on twitter(a service I don't use btw), it has to be said that many people have baited him(prob some of you on here). and while he shouldn't take that bait and respond, he is only human. plus as I always think, many footballers are thick when it comes to this kind of thing. garv, your post is spot on, and lets face it you cant expect walberswick to let facts get in the way of his negative thoughts.

Agree all the anti chopra stuff on here is very poor. He's been a disappointment without a doubt, but he does have talent. Be good if he pulls his finger out and gives us one season to remember.

Why are the anti-Chopra comments poor? He's slapped is on the face enough over the last couple if years hasn't he without any degree of remorse?

Garv added 23:03 - Jun 23
Mr_Evans unless I'm hugely mistaken Chopra went up to Newcastle most weekends last season to see his son, and the season before that in fact. He's hardly going to get on a plane every week is he?
