Chopra Linked With Blackpool Move
Wednesday, 24th Jul 2013 10:20

Town striker Michael Chopra is reportedly set to sign for Blackpool. The 29-year-old, previously mentioned in connection with Barnsley and Sheffield Wednesday, was missing from last night’s squad for the friendly at Colchester with manager Mick McCarthy confirming that he was in talks with a club.

The Blues boss, who made the former Cardiff man available for transfer at the end of the season, said: “He’s talking to clubs. Talking to a club."

McCarthy wouldn’t confirm who the club involved were: “I wouldn’t disclose what he’s doing, he’s talking to a club.”

The ex-Newcastle and Sunderland striker is understood to be on £18,000 a week at Town, a wage he is unlikely to be offered anywhere else and the Blues will almost certainly have to negotiate a settlement of the remaining year of his contract.

Cant believe so many people are sticking up for this succubus.
Little man with a big mouth who has always been overrated.
This man took the p**s out of this club and the fans and you want to wish him well?
I'll gladly pay the taxi fare to Blackpool to get rid of the lazy little leach.
He'll fit in well there with the other donkeys on the beach.

It really is such a shame. He has plenty of talent, but seems to be wasting it. I know that he has said some silly things, but who hasn't? My impression is that the Club has done all it can for him and, sadly, it is time to go our separate ways. If we can lose his wages then that will be for the Club's good.

Those that have given childish insults on here are totally within their rights to do so. How many chances did Chopra have? How many chances to do something positive at ITFC after all his negative press? endear himself to the fans? payback debts and a morale debt?
answer - absolutely nothing.

He was well past his best when we signed him, personally felt he did 'ok' the first season but after that a let down and really would be surprised if he netted any where near 20 goals for any team he was to sign for (in the top 2 divisions). Also fairly shameful at times how he has behaved or reacted to criticism by twitter - talk about shooting yourself in the foot, plus I hear he was on a fair old wack of dosh so all in all will be glad when and if he leaves!

If he goes to another club and scores goals I will happily say we shouldn't have got rid thanks. Said many times he could still come good. I just hope Mick's decision is based purely on wages and not on his ability. Scored some important goals in his time here. Unfortunately he has let himself down massively off the pitch at times which ultimately has turned fans against him, and he is of course on large wages.

Shame.
