McCarthy: Cressy's Getting Even Better Friday, 4th Oct 2013 11:45 Town boss Mick McCarthy believes left-back Aaron Cresswell has made improvements to his game this season. The 23-year-old picked up three assists in addition to his goal during Tuesday’s remarkable 4-4 draw at Derby.
The Blues boss says he has spent time working with the former Tranmere man: “They were great deliveries. He’s got such a good left foot. I’m constantly harping on to him about delivery, delivery, delivery.
“He doesn’t just try and put crosses in from anywhere, he’s been more considered and is working hard, and his deliveries have been good.”
He says there’s always a chance of scoring from quality balls into the box: “We worked on him putting corners in and a bit of movement from the lads going in. If you get a delivery in, you can score off of them.”
Cresswell, who McCarthy has previously said is the best left-back in the division, was linked with numerous Premier League sides during the summer but with none of them firming up their interest.
The Liverpudlian is contracted to Town until June 2015 with the option of a further season.

Jewell's biggest success for us - who'd even heard of him when he arrived? Really proud to see his name on the teamsheet, hope we can hang onto him but he's definitely Premiership class.

Agree with the above post, along with chambers cresswell was by far jewell's best signing as town manager so credit to him for that. He is clearly happy at town and im glad he didnt leave in the summer, because he can only get better and that should be with us. Mick dont try to drum up interest in cressie in january, press our faceless owner for some cash to spend!!!

I agree with MM's assessment but I wish he would not keep banging on about it. It seems at times as if he is trying to attract offers for him something that would not be in the Town's best interests.

And so the shop window opens a little wider. Just renew his contract to a lot longer for all our sakes.

If this isn't talking a player up to get offers I don't know what is. How are we suddenly so hard up?!

I clearly remember after we won the FA Cup all the other teams kept trying for our players and the great BR's comment was "For goodness sake, I am still trying to build a team not split one up!". MM why, in your best interests, as well as ours, do you not say the same and stop drumming up business? We need Cressy and all the others too and, yes, even some more. If you think he is wonderful then tell him quietly I am certain he would appreciate that more. If you do sell him the money will only go into the bottomless pit called Evans and you will have lost a match winner.

My guess is that MM has been told that any money raised by player sales will be made available for player purchases. Therefore selling Cressy for say 3-4 million equals 3 new players to make us stronger. Mick clearly believes that in Mings we can move forward without missing Cressy too much. The trouble with that though is that the better Cressy gets, the bigger his shoes will be to fill.

Oh right so when MM praises one of our players it's a sign that he wants to drum up business! For god sake get a grip people!
