Skuse Fine for Barnsley Trip
Thursday, 6th Feb 2014 14:31

Boss Mick McCarthy says midfielder Cole Skuse should be fine to face Barnsley at Oakwell on Saturday, despite being replaced with a head injury in last week's 1-0 victory over Bolton. Stephen Hunt is a slight doubt, while Luke Hyam and Sylvan Ebanks-Blake are again set to miss out.

“Skusey trained today, he’ll be fine," McCarthy said. "Sylvan’s trained fully but he’s not ready to play and Luke is doubtful for the weekend.

“He had eight stitches and it’s slightly on the knee joint. It’s got to heal properly or it’ll just keep opening up.

“I hope Sylvan [will be available for Blackpool next week or soon afterwards]. As soon as we can do it, but I don’t want to do it and end up with him having a problem with his hamstring.

“He trained fully today with the team, then did a bit extra with TC and he looks fine. I’m pleased with him.

“Hunty missed training today, he said he had a tight groin from training the other day but knowing him he’ll be all right.”

No mention of hangovers from a drinking binge in the sun? I was hoping for some salacious gossip from the trip.

Still, 3 points should be sufficient, but Barnsley under Danny Wilson will be difficult.

Little bit dissapointed Hyam isn't going to be available to play on saturday, looking forward to having a full squad to choose from for Chopra's homecoming a week saturday.

I really think 6 points from the next 2 games are doable, especially with a trip to Leicester awaiting us after.

Asking too much maybe?

Hope Mick doesn't set up team to be too defensive in his line up,as like the last two away games this should be winnable.
Only hope that after his 2 goals in midweek,he will give Paul Taylor a runout, and please dont play Frank Nouble!
Previous experience has led me to believe that my wishes wont be granted however!

Very pleased that Skuse is fit again, especially with Hyam still out injured. Wordsworth and Tabb did well last week but feel much more comfortable with Skuse in the middle. It would be nice to see a loan signing to boost the numbers, but doesn't sound like it'll happen before Barnsley, which is a shame.

......... can't see EWB doing much this season - not surprised I have to say, pretty much what was to be expected.

irishtim - ..... you're right there - Hunt is like the proverbial clock work mouse, there's a place in every team for someone like him - at all levels of the game.

alfromcol - agreed - his stamina should come in useful, still a shame he can't head the ball - that would equally be useful.

battyblue even though you're stacking up quite a lot of negative responses, I can tell you, stuck in a boring hotel for the night after a long hard day , your post really made me smile.....

Taylor to replace Nouble, that is all.

Batty blue, you are a tw@t. We all know Nouble is more athlete than footballer but MM has signed him, picks him to do a specific job & when the young lad pulls on the blue shirt, you & the rest of the boo boys should support him or in that case any town player - Hyam included (who in fact is a decent player)

Bring on the minuses for those of you who know nothing.

Agreed Taylor should definitely be in the team - no question!
