McCarthy: Stewart Can Make Things Happen
Tuesday, 1st Jul 2014 16:11

New signing Cameron Stewart was a player manager Mick McCarthy says he highlighted as having the ability to make things happen when the Blues faced him when he was with Charlton and Leeds last season. Earlier today, the 23-year-old signed a three-year deal with an option for a further season.

“We’ve got good wide players and Cameron adds to that,” McCarthy told the club site. “He can play on either flank but he’s a right footer who likes playing on the left, where he can cut in and look to shoot.

“He’s very quick and can put crosses in and when he played against him when he was at Charlton and Leeds last season, he was one player that we highlighted that could cause us damage.

“We paid special attention to him and he’s got that bit of quality about him. He’s an exciting player who likes to take people on. He has the ability to make things happen.”

Absolutely fantastic!! That is the best way to judge players. . . If they can potentially do us damage, lets have them on our side. Well done MM and TC.

Welcome Cameron! With a surname like yours we have high expectations though ;-)

I'm holding fire on this one.

Pleased we have got him on a free but hasn't particularly set the world alight in his last two spells in the Championship.

Hopefully MM and TC can get him back to his Hull form.

Great signing this! But mick saying we've got good wide players... Hmm, I don't agree with that! But this signing looks promising, don't get me wrong.

Love the signing! If Cam can play either flank, has a good cross and is right-footed, I'd love to see him given a run at right mid. One thing we've lacked for years is a "keep your feet on the chalk" winger with a good cross. Stewart on the right (Hewitt deputy?) and Henshall/Hunt on the left works for me.

MM has obviously been after this lad for some time so he obviously see's something in him.

Good enough for me!

If he likes to play on the left so that he can cut in on his right foot to shoot that sounds promising to me. With him on the left and Anderson on the right we would have two wingers who could grab us a few goals next season

Cue lots of debate about "tracking back" ;-)
