Chelsea and Arsenal Eyeing Mings
Sunday, 21st Sep 2014 09:38

Chelsea and Arsenal have joined Crystal Palace in trailing Blues left-back Tyrone Mings, according to one of this morning’s tabloids.

The Sunday People claims Eagles boss Neil Warnock remains interested in the 21-year-old, despite having had a £3 million offer rebuffed on deadline day.

Given Palace’s approach, it would be no surprise if other Premier League clubs were keeping tabs on Mings, who yesterday Town confirmed has signed a new contract until the summer of 2017.

It’s also reported that 18-year-old midfielder Teddy Bishop has been watched during his first three senior games, as manager Mick McCarthy expected would be the case.

Don't panic yet folks, this is just the Daily Mirror trying to get you to buy their rag!

This is great news. It shows that MM still has the magic touch when sourcing gems.
We'll lose a few, but in the meantime me might keep enough to get us promoted.

Mings for England!

So McCarthy & Co found McGoldrick in the Forest reserves, found Mings playing Non-League football and those two are now worth over £10 million to us. Add to that Berra on a free and bringing through Bishop at a steady pace who is looking every bit a star for the future. I wonder whether people will stop posting suggestions that our Management don't know what they are doing and start enjoying what is going on at PR?!?

Happy days. Mings will want to improve himself as much as possible. If he's gets sold, it'll be for a decent fee.

Was Russell Osmsn that suggested Mings should be looked at. Wasn't it Jewell that brought McGoldrick on loan ?

SchanchelITFC - No McCarthy signed McGoldrick on loan in 2013. You might be getting confused with DJ Campbell who was signed by Jewell but also played under McCarthy?!?

SchancheITFC - yes, you are absolutely right! Wouldn't it be nice if people thought for a second or two before snatching at anything to support their mindless comments!

SchanchelITFC- You prove the point that some people just don't want to give Mick and TC any credit. Mick brought both of those players in.
Ridiculously biased comment about Osman, so he acted as scout and tipped off Mick. In which case no manager can ever take credit for signing any players. Unless you expect Mick to be watching the likes of Chippenham town on the off chance, rather than, oh I don't know, training the first team squad.

SchancheITFC - Yes sorry, LangdonBlue is right, I had got confused with DJ CAmpbell too but here we are talking about young Mr. Mings and yes it was definitely Russell Osman who introduced us to him and, if I am correct this time, it went on for some time before he was eventually signed.

Chelsea want to sign everybody they can p--s off if we want to progress we need to hold onto players such as Mings and Bishop.
We need to win tomorrow to keep in touch with others above us so hope we go there with all guns blazing several sides who were struggling at the foot of the table last season are a different superstition this term it seems so we must stay consistent to have ant hope of play offs.

Bill blue, yeah, don't let facts get in the way or anything. Mick joined us November 2012, McG joined Jan 2013 on loan. And obviously Mick signed Mings, it has no relevance who told him to have a look, otherwise no manager would get any credit, ever.

The big clubs seem to want to sign everyone going.

It's about time there was a maximum number of players a club is allowed to sign in a transfer window..I think Chelsea have currently got 26 players out on loan..it's ridiculous.

Lightningboy, totally agree, I think the plan is to get as many good players as possible to sign for you and then loan them out to teams that can have no effect against the club who own them. Scandalous manipulation of a loan system. In effect no difference to third party ownership of players. Should be stopped somehow.

Mings for England.. Not just yet. But, I wouldn't be surprised if Cresswell gets a chance soon.

....... surprise, surprise - I think not - there are people out there who can spot a real player a mile off obviously.

Others couldn't spot one on the end of their nose.

And for those who dismiss it as media hype - don't you believe it for one minute, that's why we should have had him on the longest contract possible - gems like Mings are quite rare !!

Just like Marriot - given the opportunity, and correct coaching.

Ridiculous rumour. Youngsters always come through with a bit of hype. Dean bowditch was meant to be the next rooney and Apparently Liverpool wanted him!
Mings will never play for arsenal or chelsea

What's all this abuse. I love Mick and Terry on what there doing at the club. Just commenting on memory. Think McGoldrick was already here on loan when Mick joined though, but yes he did sign him.

True or not this speculation will ruin Mings' game now. I doubt he can help having his head turned by this.

PJH added 12:01 - Sep 21
I do not think that this will ruin Mings' game because he along with all at PR already know that he is "exciting" "special" or whatever other superlatives we want to use.The Palace bid did not affect his performance in the last two games and I think MM,TC and the Senior players will keep him grounded. It is amazing that since the game at Derby the future looks far more exciting than it did before.

All very well potentially getting mega-bucks, but how on earth are we ever supposed to progress if we instantaneously sell players as soon as they show particular talent? By definition that means we'd always be treading water in mid-table with a squad of just competent, if aspiring, average championship players. Anyway, thankfully, he's just signed a new 3-year contract!
