Keane Tried to Change Colour of Town's Kit
Keane Tried to Change Colour of Town's Kit
Thursday, 23rd Oct 2014 10:55

Former Town boss Roy Keane has revealed that he asked owner Marcus Evans if he could change the colour of the club’s first-team shirts during his time in charge but was told it would cause “uproar”, which the Irishman claimed would lead to “four people taking to the streets”.

Speaking to the Daily Telegraph, Keane reiterated comments he made in his recent book The Second Half regarding the Town the colour of Town’s shirts.

“Rangers, City, sorry, I can’t be doing with blue,” he said. “Childish? Yeah, obviously. But I did once say to the owner, ‘Any chance we might be able to change the colour of the kit?’

"He said, ‘Nah, there’d be uproar’. Which at Ipswich meant four people taking to the streets.”

Keane also talks about an unsuccessful team meeting which took place in the wake of a poor performance.

“So I say: ‘Right, you can say what you like, lads. Who’s first?’ The centre-half sticks his hand up. And he’s been really getting on my nerves. But I say, ‘OK, what’s your problem?’

“And he goes: ‘Every time I get the ball, no one’s showing for me.’ Well, I lose my temper at that. I give him a right pasting, you useless this, you useless that, you couldn’t find a team-mate with a pass if he was standing two foot in front of you.

“Then when I’ve finished I go: ‘Anyone else got anything to say? Thought not.’ Afterwards I’m talking to the staff and I go: ‘How do you think that went lads?’ Not well was the general opinion.”

Arogant and concited. That simple. He clearly went into that meeting to have a row, completely premediated. Wish I had the talet to pull on the blue of Ipswich, I would have stuck my hand up straight away and said something along the lines of "you are a crap manager with no man mangemnt skills, the atmosphere in here is that of a funeral after the pall beareres dropped the casket, the players hate you, the fans hate you, your ex clubs hate you, fergeuson hates you. You have sytematicly alienated alsmost everyone at almso every club you have played at as well as your own country and if your such a genius why the hell are we playing like a green and yellow turd, and looking for the world like relegation certanties. Its clear you are not capable of managing at this level so why dont you do the honoriobale thing for once in your life and step aside you jumped up arrogant prick"

No doubt this would lead to me getting punched, which would lead to him getting punched somewhat harder and a leak to the press.

Roy see you next tuersday mate

This has to be an early April fools. No sane person can expect to be a leader with such behaviour.

I've changed my mind about Keane recently.
Now, I will definitely not brake if I see him crossing the road.

Yes it was Delaney......Pablo made his views known which put him into RK solitary confinement, I recall his first "Players Night" when he requested a "Black tie dress code"..
I along with several other "Run off the mill terrace fans" all turned up in ties of a very different nature....mainly blue!
RK was none too impressed and looked at me with contempt in his eye....I looked him back in his eye and simply said..."you cant bully me!!".....He truly is so full of himself . Has nothing constructive to say even as a pundit...

Surely if we get Villa in the cup at home he wouldnt come to Portman Road!! Cause there would a few more than 4 people willing to put his words down his throat!!!

Thank Christ we haven't got Vincent Tan as an owner or we could have ended up playing in red!! As for the four people quote, I don't think he realises (or ever will) the traditions or the supporters of our club, a horrible character both on and off the pitch and a prize t**t as well.

If he hated blue that much and saw ITFC as such a small club then he should never have agreed to become our manager
The 4 people on the streets was probably just an attempt at humour but should not have said it to a newspaper reporter as he knew it would be printed & knew it would offend
Hindsight is a wonderful thing but it is now apparent that the worst decision in clubs history was offering Keane the manager role

Roy Keane the guy with real mental issues. It's obvious he couldn't have succeed with us as he lacks man-management skills. Poor results, poor league position. He had to go, simple as that. It's hard to have any sympathy for him given some of his comments.

That doesn't change the fact that it was still Jewell who f****d our club up and been our worst ever manager.

If he hadn't of made it as a footballer then he would almost certainly of found himself behind bars the arrogant thug.

Why are we still hearin about this clown? If I could scrap his involvement with our great club and have it completely disappear I would. Everything I hear from him about us makes my blood boil. How is he involved with any team after coming out with stuff like this?

This really is the final straw with Keane.

Having read his latest book regarding his time here he was almost coming across as having learned he is not infallible - then this.

Knob!

What a disgrace. It shows the calibre of the man. When he came here I gave him the benefit of the doubt despite not liking him as a player.
But his conduct shows what our players were up against during his time here.

He has no class.

N.B The previous posts on this thread supporting him are clearly not from Town supporters
