Half-Season Ticket Sales Nearly 400
Tuesday, 2nd Dec 2014 17:40

Town have sold almost 400 half-season tickets, a figure up 757 per cent on the same stage last year. The Blues launched the tickets, which cover the final 12 home games, three weeks ago.

A half-season ticket - which covers the games from the Charlton home match on Tuesday 30th December onwards - in the lower tier of the Sir Alf Ramsey Stand costs £271 for an adult, £189 for a senior citizen, student or disabled supporter, £149 for under-20s and £113 for under-16s, while an under-11s half-season ticket is available at £10. Full prices here.

The club are offering fans the chance to pay for their half-season ticket over four months via an interest-free direct debit scheme.

For more details, visit the club site or to buy a half-season ticket visit ITFC Direct.

Meanwhile, tickets are selling well for Saturday’s home game against Leeds United with a crowd of more than 20,000 expected. The visitors have sold 1,700 tickets with only family enclosure seats remaining on sale.

I don't disagree that English football fans get ripped off, but it's a pointeless debate at a club level, it's a wider issue. A debate about the price of these tickets is only really relevant in the context of the rest of the immediate market ie. championship clubs. Bayern prices are irrelevant as the German model is vastly different. For what it's worth I think we pay too much in that respect too. Charlton was £24, pretty sure it was £22 last season. No uplift for those buying on the day either. Feels a fairer price point for that level of football than what you'll pay on the gate at PR.

Green Army - interesting comparison but you're not comparing like with like. I take it you got the Bayern Munich figures from the Guardian article. Most expensive ticket is £540 and cheapest is £67 giving a Bayern Munich average of £303. Do the same with the Town figures and you get a most expensive of £420 (adult) and a cheapest of £271 (adult) giving an average of £345. That makes an average town half season ticket more expensive than a full season Bayern Munich one! A bit of a rough and ready comparison but your point is a good one. Reflects the overpricing of English football in general.

If all our games were Grade C, the cheapest ticket is £21 which is very good value. The problem is with grading, not pricing itself.

Our season tickets in this league are pretty good value. Norwich cheapest ticket is £499 i believe

The expected crowd of 20,000 is very poor considering how well we are performing at present ! and given it is against Leeds .

Rambo -so what? Their money will be just as welcome as ours, who have coughed up for a season ticket - regardless of team form - since the 1960s. Football is an entertainment business. If the show is worth seeing the punters will turn up. Why get sniffy about a full stadium?

Just come and join us...the best year since Big Joe was the Manager. The best year that ME has been in charge, at the third time of asking he got the main men MM and TC. Now it is time for supporters that had given up on the cause to come back, take up the chance to renew, and give this team the support that they deserve and have earned.

I'm an armchair supporter. I hope you don't mind if I come to the Middlesbrough and Brentford games?

No..not arm chair supporters..just supporters who I imagine have financial problems or find it tough but still want to follow their favourite team. Not everyone had rambohambo's salary..

Please lets not start an argument on here again. We are all town supporters. We all want them to do well and get promoted. We all would go to every match home and away if we could afford the time and money. accept everyone has a point of view. It doesn't make them wrong it makes them different.
With the free direct debit I have been fortunate enough to be able to have a season ticket the past 2 years and when I can't go I give it to a mate so the seat gets used and he gets a chance to take one of his kids.
I think football is way too expensive, not just entrance fee but food and drinks and programmes etc. Trouble is all clubs are out to squeeze as much as they can and so set the prices as high as they dare.

How much is a cheap day return ticket to Munich. I don't care. What a ridiculous comparison to make.

Sick of people moaning about armchair supporters. The majority of you are lucky enough to live fairly close to Portman rd. Others don't - am I an armchair supporter because I don't manage to make it from Liverpool to home games? Such a narrow minded simplistic view...

Supporters are supporters.

Some simply can't afford it. Some work on Saturdays or whatever. Some live too far away to make attendance practical.

I am fortunate enough to be able to afford a season ticket, work doesn't interfere too much for home, away or midweek games and I live locally. I don't believe that gives me, or anyone else for that matter, the right to consider themselves as a "better" or "more committed"supporter of the Town.

I would say though that, in recent weeks / months, there does seem to have been an unwelcome increase in the number of people posting on here purely to get a reaction (wind up merchants) and those that simply mark down posts for the hell of it (without ever posting anything themselves).

Still, it takes all sorts I suppose.

A Town fan is a town fan, and I would love to see the stadium full each week. I can't go to very many games as I have a young family and time with them is precious. It doesn't make me any less of a fan though. What is interesting though (and I've said this on here many times),is that you always hear people complaining about prices, yet get promoted (lets hope that happens) and see how many people can suddenly afford to go to games then.

A full adult season ticket at Stade Rennais, (French league 1) in the upper tier, behind the goal is 249 euros (£200), with free parking under 10 minutes walk away. If you buy 2 adults and U18's tickets, you can get all 4 for less than 500 euros (£400).

English football needs to get realistic with prices. Whilst some people can afford it, many can't. I can understand if we are in the Premiership and getting full houses week in and week out, but in the Championship we haven't averaged 20,000+ for several seasons.

That said, I hope the fans get out in numbers on Saturday, because, for the 1st season in ages, I think the players and mangement team deserve great support, with a big crowd and loads of noise.

COYB!

If ITFC had the TV and media income of Bayern Munich, then maybe we might have cheaper season tickets. We rely on gate receipts to survive, they don't have to.

I would agree with the majority on here. The so-called "arm chair supporters" are never going to spend hard earned money on food, travel and ticket prices to watch Ipswich getting thumped like under Keane and Jewell. None the less, I too am an "arm chair supporter".

Dammit, maybe I should give up my degree up here in Sheffield. If I could I'd travel to every Ipswich game but what do you think I do when Ipswich are playing? I follow every kick. Either on Twitter, gillette soccer saturday or streaming the game itself. I'm about as blue blooded as us all and just for the record I was a 7 year season ticket holder before University it's just how it goes.
