Town Closing in On a Sell-Out
Wednesday, 6th May 2015 11:58

Town have now sold 26,400 tickets for Saturday’s home Championship play-off semi-final first leg against Norwich City (Sky Sports 1 from midday, KO 12.15pm).

The club are expecting a sell-out with only around a couple of thousand seats out of the reduced capacity of just under 29,000 left, tickets having gone on general sale at 8am with queues both at Portman Road and online throughout the morning.

Fans can purchase their tickets in person at Planet Blue but the club encourage supporters to buy their tickets online from ITFC Direct. Full ticketing details for the home and away legs can be found on the club site.

Lucky, lucky people that are able to go, please sing and clap for me, be that 12th man for us, I reckon the atmos will be brilliant and so electric that it'd supply gigawatts to the national grid if hooked up!!

I notice www.itfcdirect.com is on the queuing system now so I imagine the tickets are still selling fast. I was going to log in to see which sections are still available.

Why has the capacity been reduced? I assume its the divide between the away fans but I could be wrong.

But there's not even a "TWTD Understands" in there at all, SouperJim... how could it move to imminent without going through that stage?

"reduced capacity of just under 29,000 " ? Where have the other 1000 odd seats gone?

I logged in again about 20 mins ago and counted 46 seats left in the whole ground.

I have no life and few friends.

Just counted 21 unsold seats, which is amazing. Am guessing 1000 other seats are for a gap between the two sets of fans. We now need the 11 most important people to turn up on the day!

The capacity was 30,300 before they took the seats out from the corner of the South Stand/Cobbold Stand. That coupled with the extra segregation necessary would easily reduce it by 1,500 seats or so to around 28,500. . . . . . . .

Come on Marcus, time to add another tier to the Cobbold!!

yeeha! it only took 4 hours and 3 minutes but i finally got our tickets!

(seems the queuing system and firefox don't play together nicely - but then i used chrome and third time lucky - it worked!)

Just had a look and there are only a few seats available, almost all restricted view (which don't show when zooming in but do show on zoomed out plan). No doubt this will be a total sell out. It's a pity the capacity is reduced.

Really poor from the club that they haven't thought of trialling the corner of the south/cobbold stands as a standing terrace for this game!

So basically the stadium capacity is now closer to 28,500 or so really.

Yes it seems like the technical capacity and the practical capacity are two different things. Cant say I have had to think about it much over the last 14 years!

Why have they reduced the capacity from 30,300 to 29,000? 30K + sounds loads better!!

NSL added 13:36 - May 6
I'm sure they haven't done it as a wind up - the fact is the ground doesn't currently have 30,300 actual seats as they took the corner ones out between the Lower South and Cobbold - that must be 300 - 500. Then sky take up more room and a bit of extra segregation is needed for obvious reasons.

So this question has probably already been asked but.... When do tickets actually go on sale online for the away leg, is it 8am or 9am? The info page on the main ITFC website says 8am but the ITFC Direct website says 9am.
