Town will face Premier League AFC Bournemouth at home in the fourth round of the FA Cup if they beat Portsmouth in next Tuesday's replay at Fratton Park.

The Blues have been drawn against the Cherries twice in the FA Cup previously. In 1952, a first round tie went to two replays with Town ultimately beating the club then known as Bournemouth and Boscombe Athletic 3-2 at Highbury after games at Portman Road and Dean Court had ended 1-1 and 2-2.

More recently, Town defeated the Dorset side 3-0 at the fourth round stage at Portman Road in February 1992 with Chris Kiwomya, Jason Dozzell, Steve Whitton scoring the goals.

Brett Pitman will be up against his former club if the Blues make it through but on-loan Cherry Ryan Fraser will be ineligible against his old club, while ex-Blues full-back Tyrone Mings is out for the season with a knee injury.

Bournemouth won 2-1 at Birmingham City in the third round on Saturday.

The draw took place live on The One Show earlier this evening where Horry Money, the chairman of the London Branch of the Supporters Club, was Town's representative in the studio along with fans from all the other clubs in the draw.

Fourth round ties will be played between Friday 29th January and Monday 1st February.

Difficult giving players time that need to play , especially when clearly they absolutely lack championship standard ,neither having played championship football before ,but thats MMs fault isn't it, we do not have strength in depth ,we just have more depth tha last season. Anderson was better than coke , dig by , knudson and the polish chap.

Please play a decent side at Portsmouth MM as would love to put one over Bournemouth. I suspect if Pompey beat us their match with Bournemouth will get TV screening. Oh well lets concentrate on Leeds and the following league fixtures for the time being.

Facefacts added 21:00 - Jan 11 Disappointing draw. Better away. Another team who will outplay us on our own ground. Used to be a free Saturday for the 4th round. Now a league game has to be rearranged. It is not worth getting through against Portugal when AFC Brazil are up next. Sorry to say it but the FA Cup is dead to me now. Hope I get to eat my words.

We are due to play them at home on that date, potentially another lost Saturday league game. I hate the FA Cup, just play it on a Tuesday evening and stop mucking up the league fixtures!

Many years ago I remember drawing 1-1 against Man City away in the cup when we should have won but then losing 0-3 in the replay at home. After Saturday's game Portsmouth will think we're a doddle but if we put our full side out we'll beat them, no trouble.

Might suit us that way. (seems absolutely everything that's posted here these days brings out the moans and groans)
