Town Registering Trademarks
Tuesday, 7th Jun 2016 10:46

Ipswich Town is in the process of registering various versions of its name as trademarks, covering a large range of products.

The club, which has previously trademarked the current badge and is seeking to renew one on the old pre-1995 crest, has registered Ipswich Town and ITFC and is currently registering Ipswich Town FC.

The four classes of goods covered by the trademarks relate to a huge range of printed matter, domestic utensils and containers, textile articles and clothing.

Registering a trademark is a standard process which allows a company, organisation or individual to protect their brand, take action against anyone who uses it without permission and to sell and license it.

@thatdamgood89 - I wonder if they're also trademarking "Route One", "Free Transfer" and "Mid-Table" - could make a fortune suing companies that use those words in any coverage of the current team!

As we've trademarked the old badge how about:

ITFC - Inverness Thistle FC before their merger with Caledonian

also there's ITFC.com a subtitling company now known as DeLuxe who used to do ITV subtitles.

Can we trademark Warkey's 'tache?

Mick's powering through the paperwork to get his line of new "Bonkers (TM)" T-shirts in the club shop before August. Currently in a legal wrangle with Dizzee Rascal over the jingle for the radio ad.

interesting that anybody else could have claimed ownership of the old style badges.

perhaps there's time to nip in a take them?

I wonder if they'll trademark 'TractorBoys' too?

What is the most unusual item ITFC could brand that you would buy...?

Apart from the new kits.

So your granny will now have to be careful what logos she knits into her blue and white scarf. She might get busted otherwise. Civilisation is drawing to a close, folks.

Can I trademark 'McCarthy OUT'?'

No, on the other hand everyone is welcome to use it - especially if you want football to return to Ipswich Town
