Emmanuel Signs New Deal
Thursday, 10th Nov 2016 17:20

Town have announced that right-back Josh Emmanuel has put pen to paper on a contract which runs until June 2019 with an option for a further season.

The 19-year-old has made eight senior starts and three sub appearances for the Blues, so far without scoring, having made his debut on the opening day of last season at Brentford.

“I’m obviously delighted to have signed a new contract,” the academy product told the club site.

“I’m enjoying life, enjoying my football and I want to keep on improving my game.

“The gaffer, TC, Bryan Klug and the academy staff have been great to me in my time at the club and have really helped me progress. I just want to keep that going now, the progression.

“It’s about being more consistent in my performances and doing what I need to do to be ready when I am called upon.”

The London-born, Essex-raised defender joined the Town academy as a schoolboy after leaving West Ham's youth set-up.

Emmanuel, who spent time on loan at Crawley last season, making one start and one sub appearance, looks set to return to the Town team facing Nottingham Forest after the international break with skipper Luke Chambers expected to move to centre-half to cover for Adam Webster, who has a groin injury.

Well done young man, good for the future of the club tying these potential 1st team regulars to longish term contracts.

Excellent. Just the kind of player we need to hold on to. Good luck Josh. I, like many others, have been very impressed with your on and off field approach and attitude

Really hope he gets the chance to keep that spot over the coming years - Kenlock too!

This is great news hopefully Josh will be rewarded for his trust in the club and McCarthy. For me the sooner he is the regular starter at RB the better. At 19 he is plenty old enough and he has already shown he is good enough now he needs the experience.

We always used staged pictures with the 'contract' covered by a plastic sleeve. Surely the paper should be outside the sleeve ;)

I agree Carsey - Chambers is not a right back, Josh should be playing there.

Nice..! With MCCarthy talking up Webster every week - the intention is clearly to do 'A Mings' and sell Webster after one good season at a massive profit - moving out c&ap RB Chambers into the middle and placing Emmanuel into the full back role. This guy is already looking the business - so VERY pleased at this news

Whilst I've been impressed with his performances and he's a great asset to town as for getting exited over contract what do they mean?
The main benefit is the longer they are the more cash you get for the player when bigger clubs unfortunately come in for them.

Guess thats whats stopping him being a regular in the team...........being ready to do what he needs to do when called upon !!

VERY PLEASED WITH THIS. ONE FOR THE FUTURE AND FOR NOW,

Shame that Webster is out though just as his quality is beginning to show. Wishing him a very speedy recovery and both of them a long and successful career here at Town.

So pleased that we have Josh on a long term contract, he looks so powerful as a full back. Great build, could be moulded into a centre forward with his pace and control and eye for goal, that is one for the coaching staff, but a thing that I have noticed while watching the U23 team.
