Milne: Stay With Mick
Wednesday, 18th Jan 2017 10:54

Town MD Ian Milne has urged fans to “stay with” manager Mick McCarthy and his team, despite last night’s humiliating FA Cup exit at Lincoln City.

Supporters have reacted angrily to the 1-0 defeat at Sincil Bank, only the Blues' second FA Cup defeat to non-league opposition since they joined the Football League, Peterborough United having won 3-2 in the third round at Portman Road in 1960.

In a statement to BBC Suffolk, Milne said: "Over the two matches Lincoln City were clearly the better organised team. That resulted in them deserving to win and we should, and have, congratulated them.

"We clearly did not perform to the standard we can do and an example of that is the good win we got against Blackburn last Saturday.

"However, nobody in the squad takes any pleasure in producing that type of football in front of our great away fans or indeed to the wider television audience.

"As usual Mick had been honest in his after-match comments and I have nothing to add to that regarding the game.

"I would add that over the last few days we have added players to the squad and we have bids in for others.

"So in these difficult times we would ask our fans to stay with Mick and the boys as we make improvements to the squad and get our injured players match fit, as our aim is to return to winning, entertaining football as we started to do against Blackburn."

If it was not so pathetic it would be funny ! Really Mr Milne ! Have you watched us play the last 18 months ? we are going downhill fast and no amount of League 1 or Vanarama signings will change anything
You and ME are clueless - just look at your own business 'empire' built upon selling tickets at over inflated prices for global sports events all in the name of 'Entertainment'
Well how much 'entertainment ' have you and your fellow Directors witnessed at Pr in the last few years .
Blame the players - yes I do , Blame the Manager - Absolutely but please do not insult us fans with drivel like 'Stick with him'
Please explain to us - How MM has taken the club FORWARD in the last two years -
Maybe ME is too busy bailing out his Irish Tout friends in Brazil - who knows - but he sure is NOT watching what is going on at PR
If I was him and I had that shower from yesterday ( Lawrence excepted) walking about with my name and company on their shirts I would be devastated
Waiting for the two year progress report
Jokers the lot of yer
Time to take the club back

Last night was there for millions to see.
A totally inept performance.
Several players not fit to wear the Ipswich shirt.
Clueless tactics.
No passion or real effort
Endlessly kicking the ball back to the opposition.
Defence sadly disorganised
We should have lost 3 - 0
It has all the signs that McCarthy has lost the Dressing Room, whatever some players have been frogmarched out to say.

I reckon the TWTD traffic counter is going through the roof today and the only story we're all coming back for is to learn that Mick has been sent packing, and instead we refresh the page to see this joker telling us to back the man that is largely responsible for taking us into the abyss! And worse still, those up top seem happy to let him keep driving deeper into it! Wakey Wakey Milne, you are kidding us and the fans, act like a man, do your job, and get rid of Mick. You have to have the balls to tell him he's not up to the job any longer, so go on and call him to your office and do what needs to be done! Over to you Mr Milnedew... Please do what needs to be done for the good of the club! We are counting on you! Somebody has to put us out of our misery asap!

Right so clearly he is not going to be sacked.. nor is he going to walk.. he needs a push then! Anyone who wants to organise a protest at the next home game message me and let's get the ball rolling! I'm sorry but no other club in league football would have accepted that performance last night and the manager would have been relieved of his duties! Only soft ol Ipswich where we seem to give managers more than enough time to turn it round! This man finds a winning team (saturday v Blackburn) and then doesn't even consider keeping the same 11! He simply won't change his stubborn ways and it's up to US to get rid! Wait to hear from fellow fans! ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!!

No. How patronising can you get???? Thousands of fans know when the football is good, or at least positive and when a club is being run well. MCarthy must go now, and Evans should spend properly or sell- simple

FA cup exit against non league opponents and the way we played against them was more embarrassing for me than 7-1 defeat against Peterborough. I've been Ipswich supporter for 26 years but I can't take any day longer with MM as manager. Not going to watch any Ipswich related games, don't care about results, news etc until he's gone. I won't buy any Ipswich stuff or shirt with Marcus Evans name on it. It means I'm out for 18 months because faceless chairman is never going to sack him and MM is not going to resign. Good luck in East Anglian derby. I don't care anymore.

As for those 2 'signings' if my local side would have signed them I don't even think they would be over excited! I'm sorry but how can a player who can't get into a forest green side and a player who hasn't had a club since last summer turn our season around? Deluded #FOIM #FOME #FOMM

The players clearly didn't perform with the odd exception and this has to be squared at McCarthy. On the whole they seemed second to most 50/50 balls and they were less up for it than Lincoln. WHY?
IMO much of the problem has been with a very very poor midfield in Skuse and especially Douglas. They lack most of the key attributes to be an effective midfielder especially in respect of ability to feed quality balls around the pitch and push forward to score a few goals and helping out defensively when required. I am not sure what the statistics are but the creating and scoring goals appears to be completely missing from these two and I can't recall a less effective midfield than we now have. He has failed to replace these two although McCarthy has had plenty of time since he has been at Town.
The hoof ball by passing midfield doesn't work very often but Town persist with thumping the ball up the park which normally follows by it quickly coming back.

McCarthy has had his time and hope that they are looking at some of the other Managers currently available that might be able to put a rocket back up the ar$e of these players and try and get them fighting for that badge again. I'd have Burley back if he would take it on until the end of the season. We haven't won a single FA Cup match under McCarthy and the football quality and enjoyment has progressively deteriorated.
Times Up. McCarthy Out.

So the man who chooses the colour of the carpets says hang in there because we have no idea what we are doing and Mick has told me everything will be fine.

Evans bought the club to make a quick buck,he thought we'd go back up to prem quickly, no he got stuck with us,now we are a tax loss for his other businesses.
The stadium empty won't affect that.

This nightmare is being played down as a cup upset
We all know it's far from a one off bad result

I have no idea how we can ever recover from this debacle I just feel such sorrow for the club I have supported through thick and thin but I cannot waste another penny till this is sorted out
I will support my local non league clubs where the whole lot really care about playing their best every week

I would be happy to stay with Mick IF .... first of all he was backed with some reasonable funds and was allowed to bring in the players he wants and not just the ones we can 'afford' I don't doubt for one minute that MM would have done a better job had he been given more money at the start and I would go as far to say he probably would have got us promoted a couple of years ago, so if you back him and you want us to back him then back him properly and stop expecting miracles from peanuts and secondly with the emphisis now on 'entertaining and attacking football' he needs to be told that is the plan and pick more attack minded teams and STOP with Skuse and Douglas midfield pairing ... FFS we have won 3 out of 21 when Douglas has played and 7 out of 9 when he hasn't ... the facts speak for themselves, when they play together we look awful, we create nothing going forward, we go sideways and backwards and can't string a pass together it is dreadful and it is always when these 2 play together. We have some decent players Didzy, Pitman and Sears all have and will score goals at this level, Ward, Bishop, Dozzell, Emmanuel, Kenlock and Webster are young players with loads of potential, we have one of the best keepers in the League in Bart and we should write off the rest of this season and give all these players (when fit) as much game time as possible, I don't see any benefit of sitting in the middle of the league watching Douglas stagger around like drunken grandad at a wedding, lets play more attacking football, let the shackles off the youngsters and see what they can do.

I for one don't mind losing but there is a way to lose and that way is if we go down fighting and try to win a game, not holding out and defending for a draw and conceding as we have done countless times in the last few years.

Nothing we say or do makes any difference, those that run this club don't give a toss about us supporters, They probably have a good laugh reading the comments on this site.

Anyone else get the feeling that the club is being run in a similar style to North Korea...?

It seems to me that we are being fed a load of MM propaganda by the board and we're expected to go with it or swallow it.

I've had enough. I will not be attending another game under that man has gone. Last night was the worse Town performance I've ever witnessed (and I've seen some bad ones before!)

Please, whilst you still have some dignity, do us all and yourself a favour and resign Mick.

This bloke is another of Marcus' Yes men - and we thought Clegg was useless?!

The whole lot of them can't seem to grasp the fact that the style of football on offer over the last 4 years has been appalling (8 when you include Keane & Jewell) - whenever we lose it's as if they think it's some little blip in Mick's grand plan of playing the beautiful game - this is what happens when people who don't understand anything about football get involved at a club - especially a club like ours with a once proud reputation for playing good football.

The worrying thing is that I don't trust our owner to find the right replacement but surely anything is better than the current drivel on offer?

We beat Blackburn 3-2 not Barcelona!! Not quite sure why Milne has referenced that twice as if it's some sort of saving grace??

Oh - forgot to mention the two World class signings

Flummoxed

We need a complete clear out of the board with Gary Rowett unemployed and free, go and get him then you have a chance of getting the fans on board.
While you creep around that inept man whose negative tactics are driving the most loyal and even shareholders away accept it you have now also lost the plot.

Cambonbleu added 11:44 - Jan 18
This must be a joke. Never in the club's recent history has the mood of the fans been so at odds with the noises coming from the club.

Mile: "Stay with Mick.......because we can't afford to pay him off"

Perhaps we could crowdfund his payoff?
