Town boss Mick McCarthy has been named the manager of the EFL’s Team of Easter after the Blues picked up six points out of six over the holiday weekend.

Friday’s 2-1 win at Burton Albion was followed by Monday’s 3-1 vanquishing of promotion-pushing Newcastle United, Town’s first back-to-back victories of the season.

The results have seen the Blues up to 15th and to safety. With three games remaining they have 55 points, 11 above the relegation zone.

Town are next in action at Rotherham on Saturday, before Sheffield Wednesday visit for Portman Road’s final game of the season the following weekend and then the season ends at Nottingham Forest on Sunday 7th May (KO midday).

Took all of the flak on himself, never once looked to divert blame and absolutely refused to walk. Bravo!. To those who think he's self serving and only after the money I just don't agree. If he had left had or been sacked he would have been managing one of our rivals within the year. Get your tin hat on and get behind him, he's not going anywhere (not at least till after next season). Good!

PortmanTerrorist added 11:03 - Apr 19 andycookguitar I don't think that supporters who voice discontent generally think MM is self serving, just that for large parts of this and last season he seems to have lost the plot. His team selections, bench selections, substitutions , hiring and style of play are all, individually, enough for most Clubs to have moved on to a new Manager. Whether he turns it around or not, i for one will still view these past 2 and a half seasons as a wasted opportunity, and that we could have done so much better. The fact he is still there suggests to me that Evans knows the responsibility for this dereliction of duty is really on him though !

Once you lose the support and people start chanting against you it's generally a self-perpetuated downward spiral. I don't reckon many managers could have pulled this around. As fans we need to keep applying the pressure on the owner to provide the financial support required to take us any further. Working year in, year out to a relegation budget is only going to lead us in one direction, regardless of who the manager is.

Winning against the odds against a table topping team is also an achievement. This is a limited award for one weekend, not a season achievement and within those boundaries is richly deserved.

This season was always about consolidation and building for future. He deserves another season to really drive the team on.

I have supported ITFC for 41 years, attending games for the last 36, so you do not need to tell me what true supporters are all about. My problem is with Mick the manager, not the bloke, and this is based, (as I have stated many times) on the last 2 years which in all honesty have been pretty woeful. I could stomach the tactics, hoofball etc when we were doing well, but having attended many times since then, I have reached the point where I think a change is in order. That's my views and I intend to stick with them, end of.
