Blues in Talks to Sign Gills Keeper Saturday, 18th May 2019 12:49
Town are in talks with Gillingham keeper Tomas Holy regarding a move to Portman Road when his contract with the Gills expires at the end of June.
The Daily Mirror reports that the Blues are close to clinching a deal and TWTD understands Town have indeed held talks with the 27-year-old 6ft 9in tall Czech keeper in recent days.
Rychnov nad Kněžnou-born Holy, believed to be the world’s third-tallest keeper, came through the ranks at Sparta Prague but featured only for their B team - having spent time on loan at Graffin Vlasim, Viktoria Zizkov and Fastav Zlin - before joining the Gills in the summer of 2017.
Holy, who has won caps with the Czech Republic at U16, U17 and U18s levels, was linked with Arsenal last summer, was an ever-present for the League One side this season and in total has made 107 appearances.
Town have spoken to a number of out-of-contract keepers since the end of the season - we understand Exeter’s Christy Pym is, as per recent links, another to have been sounded out - with Championship clubs having already shown interest in Bartosz Bialkowski and with Dean Gerken expected to leave.
Gerken’s former club Colchester United are reported to be showing interest in re-signing the 33-year-old.

New keeper is inevitable. Bart is 1 of our few sellable assets that would generate a few million on top of the fact he is our highest earner by some way. Gerkens extension would also put him on a fairly high wage. people fail to realise there will have to be some outs in order to cover sone of the loss in income and also to fund any additions.
This is a very sensible signing of it makes it over the line. We have been so bad at cutting out crosss and set pieces this year that an aerial presence is desperately needed. Love Bart but him and Gerken aren't good enough in that department.
Having read a few Gills Season ticket holders give him a glowing reference & ive not seen any Gills fans say too much negative about him it looks a good signing: we need a New Keeper I believe Bart will move him & after last season for whatever reasons he was very poor & Gerken is not good enough 2 be a regular No1: hopefully with this deal & possibly Norwood it looks like we maybe getting some of the area we need strengthing done early that can only be positive: ENCOURAGING SIGNS!!!
Wow..... the Gillingham defence looks worse than ours ! And that's saying something !!! He should feel at home with Chambers and co in front of him ! If we get decent money for Bart and Holy as his replacement it's got to be good business for Town ! As long as Lambert gets the money that is 🤔
Bart will have to go. Even with a reduced wage after relegation, he is still likely to be unaffordable. Proven League One keeper on a free would represent very good business although I must admit, I don't know a lot about this guy.
