Significant squad change isn’t needed, that would be detrimental to the “positive culture” you referred to. Assuming we get Sarmiento, Moore and Omari back we’ll sign four or five.
Completely agree. There’s nothing to fear next season. We’ll lose some and get taught a few lessons in the off days but we’ll be pretty comfortable. This idea that we need to bring in players en masse to add “more quality” is a bit of a misnomer. More experience in places for sure but a whole new centre-back pairing? I remember some saying Burgess shouldn’t be in the starting eleven in league one and now look at him. Not sure why so many are quick to write off players that have walked two divisions.
We have our way. We are turning affordable signings into very good and in some cases, international players. We need supplementing in some areas, that is all.
The acronym VAR should have stopped at ‘Vuvuzelas are rubbish’ in South Africa in 2010. In fact, a vuvuzela is actually more use to the game; at least it was iconic.
Depends what the existing investors wanted / want out of it. It’s in Blueskies Capital’s best interest to not go into administration but have they got the funds or appetite to pay up everyone, invest and take an even bigger share in the club? Either way, it’s an absolute mess.
I think we’ll be adding a bit of PL know how to the squad. I don’t envisage us signing more than about 4 or 5 players, 3 of those being through the spine of the team so I’m not sure on Szmodic. I seem to remember us being in for a German target man at the same time we were looking at Gallagher and Moore though so I wouldn’t rule out us going abroad and my “PL experience” thought being wide of the mark.
No-one should retain their place by default otherwise it negates the point of pre-season. Harness and Walton will be on a level playing field should KM wish to retain them.
Why is everyone obsessed with selling Walton too? He’s a class keeper as proven. Slicker is unproven. Walton could well be trusted number one again in 3 months time who if he has a better pre-season or Hladky gets injured.
You’d let go Walton even though we have an option of another season and he’s a quality keeper whether a 1 or a 2. If anything we’ll get a fee for him but letting him go would be non-sensical.
Reiss Nelson would be more likely than Nketiah. I can see Smith-Rowe wanting more football with the World Cup 2-years away. He’ll need a couple of excellent seasons to get near the squad and it must be on his mind.
Get used to it. We’re PL now and I’m sure we’ll gather more celebrity talent if we prove to be successful. The fact that a growing sporting talent who outwardly supports the club and emblazons our crest at every fight for the world to see is being derided on here is very tinpot.
It’s great to see the club and him hand-in-hand as it is Sheeran et al and whoever comes next.
