Burnley 1-0 Town
at 14:53:28

PS hopefully Marriott and Mings can start next week, maybe get Henshall and Lawrence on from the bench for a bit of experience. Neither team has anything to lose or gain so nobody can criticise some young players getting a shot at 'this level'

Burnley 1-0 Town
at 14:50:38

Firstly, fantastic progress on last season and McCarthy has done wonders with the shambles Paul Jewell left behind.

However, my one criticism of Mick has always been the 'set up the team to match the opponents and not lose' philosophy he has employed since day one, even the cup games vs Preston as one example. Today, playing 5 defenders when we needed to win or bust, with Vaseli coming onto the bench, has cost us. At minimum, we could have played Nouble or Green out of position wide right rather than a defender and Tabb as a centre mid, regardless of how badly he's played second half of the season. Henshall, if he's so promising, could have filled that extra bench position.

If we went for it and got stuffed, what have we lost - nothing. By being defensive and hoping for a late winner all we've done is ended up with the same result and a sour taste in the mouth.

Still, on to next season and hopefully sort the midfield out over the summer and a promotion push from the start. COYB!

Blurred Vision Led to Early Exit
at 14:57:03

I can sympathise with Chambo on that one, I've suffered from migraines my whole life and when you get a bad one they can be completely debilitating, with the headache, blurred vision and increased photo-sensitivity (even daylight feels like staring at the sun!) Can't say I've had them onset from a bang on the head but I don't do sport to the extend he does so it's possible that it can set them off. Hope it is nothing more serious and they do stay few and far between

Cresswell Out to Complete Full Season
at 13:23:28

Well done Cressy, has become an important player for us. If we are safe by the end of today though, I can see Mick giving Ty Mings his debut against Birmingham next week - either starting or as a sub. I'm not sure whether I want Ty to have some game time or to let Cressy have his perfect season

Carson Joins York

Good lad, get out, get some games under your belt and come back ready to fight for the first team next season. Looked good when he broke into the team but stalled a little under PJ

Owner Evans Writes
at 00:33:24

A really good read. Well done Mr. Evans. Speaks a lot of sense and by releasing this I do feel slightly better about having him at the helm. Whatever has clicked in his mind recently about needing to be more hands on I think can only be a good thing. Obviously there are still many issues to be addressed, but I think that we are a lot better off with him in charge than without.

Onwards and upwards, ITFC

ps work is allowing me to make it to the game tomorrow, happy days! UTT

Wordsworth Spends Night in Hospital
at 13:25:30

@Marcus, the guys name is Wordsworth! If even he was illiterate it would be some kind of poetic irony (see what i did there?).

As above though, i like his attitude and think he's gonna fit in well. Get well soon, Anthony.

Peters on Trial at Whitecaps
at 22:24:17

Good luck Jaime, showed plenty of promise and effort but never had a prolonged run in the side to show what he could really do.

I think his biggest problem was that he didn't have one set position - he was used on the wings, attacking and defensive midfield, both full back positions, he seemed to be one of those players whose versatility worked against him - always on the bench or around the squad in an emergency to fill in but never given a position to make his own.

Town Amongst Clubs Eyeing Orient Winger

@Karlosfandangal - young and Hungary players? We've only had one of those lately, Tamas Priskin! Look how that went... ;-)

On a more serious note, this lad looks very promising. Sign him up!

Orr Loan Extended to End of Season
at 16:42:43

Glad to see Orr staying, he's been pretty solid since he got here (first game at Leicester aside). I'm struggling to keep up with us this transfer window! Don't forget Mick said 'no more signings are imminent' after the Kisnorbo deal and within 24hours we had McGoldrick and McLean in!

Henderson Injured and Out of Cardiff Clash
at 16:34:06

I'm a big fan of Scott Loach and think the way Jewell brought him in, bigged him up saying he'd been after him for years then dropped him after costing us one game was farcical, but I actually wish we still had Hendo this weekend. Playing well in the cup is one thing, but I don't think Scotty will be helped by the pressure of returning and needing to impress in a game against the top of the league side. I feel its an unneccessary trip to the firing line for the lad. Would much rather he took over next week and built it up over a few games! Hopefully he faces up to it and impresses like last week but I'm worried for his career here if he doesn't.

Town and Villa in Ticket Talks
at 21:43:01

I hate all this 'fair weather fans' business. Some people actually have reasons why they can't make every game. I don't doubt a lot of people only go when we're winning, but I work shifts - 365 days a year, for what its worth - and only get about 2 in 6 saturdays off, of those half of them we're away from home, and I live in Essex. I gave up my season ticket about 8 years ago when I left Suffolk but still go to approximately 8-10 home games per season and 2 or 3 away. A season ticket would be a massive waste of money on my part from a practical point of view. I missed out on a ticket for the Villa game - which just happens to be on my weekend off, having worked xmas day, boxing day, new years eve and new years day - on the basis that I don't have a Gold card or season ticket. Apparently that makes me a fair weather fan! I'll just hope that the clubs agree this deal and more tickets are made available, either way its a massive cock-up at the fans expense by getting such a menial amount in the first place

Forgotten Men
at 21:33:33

I actually had a conversation about Ulrich le Penn a few months back with a town fan mate, so we looked into it. Apparently after his leg-break with us he never recovered, felt homesick because he hadnt enjoyed his time here and ultimately just wanted to go 'home' to France. After being released by us, he joined someone in the second div over there and got some form back and got a decent money move to a mid-table Ligue 1 club and last I heard was getting a lot of plaudits! I would say we should look into signing him again but I doubt he'd even consider it again, probably still has nightmares.

Some great names on the list though, Jimmy Juan caught my attention last season when he scored a trademark freekick for Chesterfield - I actually had to rewind it (sky+ is a wonderful thing!) and make sure I'd heard it correctly!

I will add Gary Croft to the list... wasn't he the first professional footballer to play whilst on bail from prison whilst with us or something?!

Higginbotham's Loan Set to Be Extended
at 18:45:02

Doesn't the 93 days end before December does..? He'll have to go back to Stoke for the festive period unless my maths or understanding of the rule is mistaken! I guess that wouldn't be something concerning Jewell though, what with him expecting to have the festive period off work...

a 433 with Martin and JET supporting chops from wide. Hyam and Luongo doing what they did so well in the first few games of the season before both were dropped for apparently no reason other than Jewell found some more loan players to bring in. Chops and Campbell were 50/50 but I figured better to stand by our own player than someone elses
