Keane: You Won't Play for Me Again
Keane: You Won't Play for Me Again
Monday, 24th Aug 2009 12:59

Boss Roy Keane says that some of the players who featured for the Blues at the weekend are unlikely to play for the club again. The Town manager says he hopes to have a busy week on the transfer front with several players coming in, but departures are also very much on the cards.

Keane said: “There are certainly one or two players from the weekend who are unlikely to play for me again. And I’ve told them that.

“I’m still learning about these players, but eventually you have to make a decision about one or two and say ‘I don’t like what I’m seeing’. That’s not just on Saturday’s game, but the end of last season and pre-season as well.

“You can’t keep waiting on people, you have to say that enough’s enough. I’m not saying they’re not good players, they’re just not doing the business for me.”

Keane says his task at Town at present is not so much about getting promoted as bagging the first league win of the season: "It's my biggest challenge because it's the next one. In your career, as in life, you face different hurdles and we have a big one ahead.

"The next challenge for us is not getting promoted, it's about getting some wins under our belts and if we do that, the rest will take care of itself.

"I was thinking about what we face over the weekend and I'm looking forward to it definitely. I'm relishing the challenge ahead.

"The problem has been for us that we have had to deal with high expectations since we have been back and I've played a part in that. I'm an ambitious person and have talked about taking the team to promotion.

"We have to deal with those expectations, but as bad as results have been, I think we are two or three players away from being a decent side and being back in the mix."

Meanwhile, we understand that Alex Bruce will again be captain when the Blues take on Peterborough in the Carling Cup tomorrow and may continue in the role for the rest of the season.

Garvan, Pim and possibly Trotter, but Trotter has a lot of improving to do as he has shown what he can do.

Pim? He's had a decent enough season, it says a lot that the Captain was dropped and he wasn't, doesn't it? Pim will be staying, good!

We do have some morons on here!

And as for Garvan, good! He's been garbage, never lived up to his full potential, which is a shame but if he can't cut it, see ya!

blueoveru, I totally disagree with you about Pim.

I think Garvan is definately one of the players being talked about, we could generate a reasonable fee for him and if that means somone like Ben Watson comes in for him then I don't think many would complain

Trotter could be another, he's talented but he's not good enough for this level, let Scunthorpe have him, they were certainly interested before

I can't see I us getting rid of Pim, he looks a real prospect and is definately worth holding on to then again if somone takes a punt on him and Roy looks to bring in somone experienced then who knows

Could be an interesting week!

I Hope Walters is kept on. He needs to be more active, but he also needs to play right wing.

I think Bruce as captain for the season will be good for us. I mean Delany has been awful for us so he can go and so can trotter. We need an expierienced midfielder and centre back otherwise we will end up going down. Come on Keane sort it out!

Aye Garvan and McAuley do seem the most likely to sold.

Pims played pretty well so far this season, gotta keep him. Garvan, gone. Others - not so sure. Glad that McAuley's been dropped as captain, surprised it hasn't gone to R.Wright though, means Roy see's Brucey as a regular on the team sheet..

Healy more than Useless
Garvan goes who we going to play in midfield keane going to sign himself on, oh i forgot we have the quality bermudan international reggie lambe waiting in the wings, if players dont come in we are going down fact.

Just looked at the team line ups for Saturday, I would say three possible players to be sold in no particular order-D. Wright, O. Garvan & J. Stead maybe????

Walters I think, he's done nothing so far this season

PablosRightBoot added 13:25 - Aug 24
Heard at half time on Sat it was Delaney, Healey and one other. Also that it will be two out two in. Don't see it being Garvan at all on his way. McAuley is interesting though but I doubt it. More likely just to lose the captaincy to Bruce

Awful man management by Roy.

I reckon it's goodbye to Garvan & Stead. neither have done much since RK has been in charge & both could command a half decent fee.
