Harte Bid Turned Down
Wed 25th Nov 2009 11:52

Carlisle have turned down Town’s loan bid for left-back Ian Harte, according to a report in Cumbria. The Blues are said to have made their offer last week with a Town youngster moving in the opposite direction as part of the proposed deal.

Town wanted to sign Harte initially on loan with a view to making the move permanent in January. An unnamed member of the Town squad is reported to have been offered to the Cumbrians as part of the deal, although whether this was seen as a temporary or a permanent move is unclear. That player may have been Pim Balkestein, who subsequently joined Brentford on loan and who said over the weekend that he had other options.

Harte, who agreed a two-year deal at Brunton Park in the summer, has played most of his career at left-back but lately has been employed at centre-half. He is Carlisle’s top scorer this season with seven goals.

Town boss Roy Keane is looking to sign two loan players before Thursday’s deadline, one a striker from a club outside of the Premier League.

Why does Keane want this has-been? He was at Sunderland and barely got a look in. Incidentally, Keane also bought Andy Cole at the same time as Harte so maybe he will be the next target?? Keane is clueless as a manager as he is clearly demonstrating. If I had been Keane, I would have gone for David Connolly in the summer. Free transfer - banging them in for Saints? He maybe would have only had a year here but I am sure he would have turned a few of these draws into wins. But no, he wants a left back?? I am baffled - seriously.

If (and I repeat if) this report is true then we should be worried. Of all that has happened in the last few weeks, I feel we're not far away from having a decent side. There are a few pieces of the puzzle missing and one of those pieces is certainly not a Ian Harte.

A Big dissapointment, harte would of been an ideal player in the middle instead of leadbitter. it would of been a league winning formulae with harte and liam rosenior in the middle of the park with garvan nd david wright on the wings and priskin and tommy smith up front hu used to play good there in his childhood days as i am his uncle iv seen him bang a few goals in and bang few birds. Keano to stay best managing history u will ever find in british football. KEANO knows his stuff and u have to giv him credit for wat he has done for us so far.

Moving back to the point i repeat what i said and many others have its only according to a report so you don't have any idea if its this boy we was after or not.

Lets face it the press have choose harte cos he is ex sunderland when keane was there WOW great rumour wonder how hard that was to put togther lazy story put togther here.

At the end of the day, Cardiff are next up and for those 90 minutes, it does not matter if you like Keane or not - gotta get behind the team. Although if offered a point right now, I would take it.
