Harte Bid Turned Down
Harte Bid Turned Down
Wednesday, 25th Nov 2009 11:52

Carlisle have turned down Town’s loan bid for left-back Ian Harte, according to a report in Cumbria. The Blues are said to have made their offer last week with a Town youngster moving in the opposite direction as part of the proposed deal.

Town wanted to sign Harte initially on loan with a view to making the move permanent in January. An unnamed member of the Town squad is reported to have been offered to the Cumbrians as part of the deal, although whether this was seen as a temporary or a permanent move is unclear. That player may have been Pim Balkestein, who subsequently joined Brentford on loan and who said over the weekend that he had other options.

Harte, who agreed a two-year deal at Brunton Park in the summer, has played most of his career at left-back but lately has been employed at centre-half. He is Carlisle’s top scorer this season with seven goals.

Town boss Roy Keane is looking to sign two loan players before Thursday’s deadline, one a striker from a club outside of the Premier League.

Surely this is not true, but then I thought that when we were reported to be on the brink of signing Colin Healy ahead of Hartlepool! A 32-year-old who was good around the time Marcus Stewart played for us and who has slipped down to play in League 1 is surely not the calibre of player we neeed.

Regarding loans generally, I am sure it is hard to get the right players in. Really the squad should have been sorted in the summer, with a quality striker coming in, we should not rely on last-minute emergency loan deals. It is also annoying how the club has reported we are "hopeful of one or two loan signings before the next match" week after week since September, then said recently that no one will come in until January, now we are looking again. It is frustrating for the fans.

Fact

Believe nothing until it happens.........

Paper talk makes people talk shi** and argue about something that is nothing more than a crap piece of journalism

Judge signings and talk about them when they sign, there have been too many crap links and paper stories to start thinking this is true

Defence is sorted - why sign this joker

thetruth is absolutely correct. Maybe we should all wait to see what happens before we comment or get too worked up about signings, both good and bad. However, we would definitely miss the newspaper talk if it wasn't there. Life would be a lot duller.

It would not be on the official Carlisle site unless it were true , everyday with Keane is a day closer to League 1 , the man has not got a clue .

Maybe keane is thinking of cover for D Wright if he gets injured.

Asusuming this then Harte is not a bad option if the price is right - he can also provide cover at Centre Back....

Surco, have never agreed with your posts, but you have never struck me as dim either.
Are you trying to be "clever" or are you just missing the point?
OK we may have contacted Carlisle, their manager says we have, so i will believe him, but nowhere does it say from Carlisle that that player was Ian Harte.

Ok injured, either way it is a player from carlisle, and in all fairness if we were to sign anyone from them i would rather it be Ian Harte, but cmon this just show Keane for what he is at the moment.

DESPERATE AND CLUELESS

FFS KEANE OUT

Any way Ian Harte was available on a free pre season. Why didnt Keane sign him then.

Whatever way you look at it Keane is utter sh*te and needs to go. Even the hardest of pro keaners must now start to think that he is a muppet.

Now its simple if he stays we go down

injuredanimal - good point. Now if it was Kav, he did great at Sunderland and should have played for us longer but was frozen out by Keane. I think he could do a good job for this season. But isn't he player coach up there?? Not sure. If it is Harte - good god!!!!!

Phew, that's a relief. Let's hope RK now concentrates on signing someone who can actually help us out of this dire predicament

If we need a striker why doesn't Keane invest in a box of Swan Vesta? They're dirt cheap, all redheads, thin and a bit wooden but are all excellent strikers; I'm sure he'd be spoilt for choice.

When will this joke of a man sling his hook?

Thierry Henry has confirmed he is on his way to sign after Keane defended him so well and got the Irish FA off his back

If he scores with his hand then that would be better than absolutely zero that we get out of our quality forwards!!! Paid to score goals, those lads have a lot to answer for, John Walters excluded because like Grant Leadbitter he is quality!

We need chuck to start rubbing horse placenta in his injury, spend every night in an oxygen bubble and get his arse back in the midfield with Leady and smash every midfield duo they come up against - Have it!

The only bright thing is that when Keano leaves and another club is daft enough to employ him, he will come back to Ipswich and attempt to re-sign all the deadwood.
