Tottenham Make Wickham Bid
Tottenham Make Wickham Bid
Monday, 3rd May 2010 15:27

Tottenham have made Town a £5 million offer for 17-year-old striker Connor Wickham. The Londoners want to sign the frontman during the summer with a view to loaning him back to the Blues for the 2010/11 season.

On Friday, manager Roy Keane refused to disclose whether the Blues had received an offer for the England U17 international, who signed a two-year professional contract last month.

A week previously Keane said he would be lynched by supporters if he were to allow the biggest talent to emerge from the academy in years to leave so soon.

The offer may be considered by owner Marcus Evans and chief executive Simon Clegg, however, they may feel that Wickham could be worth even more in a year’s time after a full season in the Championship, with plenty of other Premier League clubs, including Liverpool, Manchester United, Chelsea and Arsenal, all understood to have been eyeing the 6ft 3in tall striker.

Wickham is happy at the club and has said he is in no hurry to leave having ended the season by netting three goals in his last five games.

.....I'd like to see the source from this story.....if it's from bbc sport, then ok, it this is from the mirror, then it's most likely rubbish.

5million is a lot of money though....

It's going to have to be a record breaking transfer fee for Wickham to leave. All depends on how much Keane is planning to spend. I still couldn't see him leaving but personally I would sell for anything about Richard Wright's 6 Million move to Arsenal.

£5million is a lot of money. I would hate to see him go(especially to a Harry Rednapp side, someone I really dislike), but that has to be considered. Thats if this is true, which I doubt.

MAy well be worth considering. Whickham only has a 2 year contract so at the end of next season his value would begin to plumit if he doesn't sign an extension. If as theysay we would get him on loan for a season, it amounts to the same thing with cash in the bank.

i would almost take that i think lol it would have to be £5mill upfront with a season long loan (although i think that would mean we don't have him for play-off's if we were there?)
i would want top ups on top of the £5mill for Tottenham appearences the following year and first choice if he is to go out on loan again and a half decent top up for senior international Debut

Source is Daily Mail.

£5m plus lots and lots of add-ons, maybe. It would still be sad, though.

Put it another way,
Wickham = Priskin + Martin + Edwards

Doesn't sound much that way does it

I hope what im reading isnt true..wasnt Rhodes 'quoted' as being happy at the club aswell? Few days later he was sold to Huddersfield Town! I just hope this isnt going to happen to Wickham. The lads only just turned 17! Hasnt proved anything yet...next season is his challenge and chance to prove he can make it at the championship level let alone prem!! Keane would be mad to let Wickham go after what he stated in the paper 'Id Get Lynched If I Sold Connor'! Does RK just say what the fans want to hear? Spurs GO AWAY!!

Oxblue ,a nice deal if we got that one.

5 mill sounds alot but it would buy priskin, martin , and edwards , oh dear and OMG !

Not alot of money is it ?

That's just a starting bid. Expect others to show interest and the price to rise. There will come a figure where Evans will decide to cash in - a 17 year old won't get us promoted, whereas the money could get us the players who will. Shame - but that's the way of the world these days.

i'd except 5 million for wickham, with loads of add ons, seeing the figure potentially rise to somewhere near 10 million, them loan him back to us for the season PLUS i'd want gio thrown in too. but that will never happen in a million years, so spurs, you can either meet our ridiculous demands or fuc k off!!!

in other words - DON'T SELL CONNOR WICKHAM

Seasider added 16:24 - May 3
That would just about cap a woeful season, dont think Keane will have much of a say in this, perhaps he didnt with Jordan Rhodes either;but his transfer dealings have been so bad that after nearly 50 years I dont really care what happens as wont influence outcome.Cant be alone as home attendances for season just finished ,at just under half a million is lowest for 10 years.
