Town striker Jason Scotland is again being linked with a return to his former club Swansea. A report in Wales claims the Trinidad and Tobago international met with new Blues manager Paul Jewell yesterday to discuss the possibility of a loan move away from Portman Road.

Scotland, who was first mentioned in connection with a switch back to the Swans in late January, is yet to make a start under Jewell’s management and, according to the Welsh report, a source close to the player says he has held talks with the new Town boss about his situation: "He spoke to Paul yesterday and he told him he needs to go out on loan if he's not going to play him, and there's only one club he wants to go to – Swansea. There are other clubs chasing him, but he's not interested in them.

"It does depend on whether Ipswich can get another forward in, but Jason Scotland back at Swansea would work out for everyone concerned."

Aside from the Swans, three other Championship clubs are believed to be interested in the 32-year-old, who spent two highly successful years at the Liberty Stadium.

Prior to the transfer window closing, Swansea boss Brendan Rodgers said he could be interested in bringing Scotland back to Wales but at the time had not made an approach to the Blues, although this may well have changed.

Football League clubs are allowed to take players on 'emergency loans' from today.

We cant find a role for him, with his fitness obviously not likely to improve beyond what it currently is, making him redundant. Think we need to move on a player who is a clear indication of what happens when you spend money on stop-gaps.

StowTractorBoy added 10:18 - Feb 8 Scotland is a shadow of the player he was at Swansea and still does not look fit to me. Keane did not help his cause playing him so deep as he is a box player. Won't shed too many tears if he goes but the service he got while here was appalling. We need a replacement though, but I trust PJ nto make the right decision. As for finishing above Norwich - cuckoo land I'm afraid and they really could get promoted - heaven forbid.

Think he does need to get fitter, but out of all our strikers he holds the ball up well and is vey hard to knock off the ball more so than the others. Think given a run in the side and played to his strengths he will score goals, its ridiculous to say hes rubbish considering some of the strikers we've had here over the years, hes still our top league scorer by the way!

parkinshair added 10:38 - Feb 8 I think Scotlands past his prime and if we had loads of strikers itching to get into the first team then I'd let him go. However if he goes and isn't replaced and Priskin or Wickham get injured then options will be very limited. He would be better off being sold in the summer and replaced with a permanent signing.

In fact I'm not even sure it's him, are you sure that in a bizarre big forward mix up we havent been left with Stern John again whilst Scotland is off living the life elsewhere?

Lightningboy added 11:05 - Feb 8 He is still our top scorer in the league and if played week in week out will score a bagfull more goals than Priskin will. Not saying that Scotland is our long term answer up front but no point in letting him go unless we can bring in someone else which is going to be difficult now unless we can get someone from the prem who isn't getting a game (should've gone for Mackail Smith at peterborough). He never has looked the fittest but that's just his shape..he was the same at swansea even when he was knocking in 50 goals in 2 seasons so don't take too much notice of how he moves about.

Concerning Scotland, I'd love to hear his own opinion on the situation, rather than that of the 'source close to the player'. Unless he's unhappy I'd definitely keep him, as he's surely the most prolific forward in our squad? As others have said, we'd need a very decent loan striker in before he leaves- and they're not exactly ten-a-penny. I say we keep the fella, roly-poly or not...

SouperJim added 12:40 - Feb 8 He doesn't look fit and is far from mobile, however the fact remains that he's bagged quite a few goals vs minutes on the pitch and will shoot any chance he gets. I've got plenty of time for Jason and think he is a significant goal threat when we're on top of teams. I don't want to see him go unless we bring in a quality replacement.
