Murphy Set to Sign QPR Deal
Murphy Set to Sign QPR Deal

TWTD understands that former Blues keeper Brian Murphy will sign a two-year deal with QPR when Neil Warnock’s newly promoted squad return from a pre-season trip to Italy. TWTD first revealed Rangers’ interest in the Irishman back in May.

Murphy, 28, turned down the offer of a new one-year deal at Portman Road at the end of last season.

The former Bohemians man has been on trial at Loftus Road in recent weeks and took part in their pre-season tour of Cornwall in addition to their current visit to Italy.

Meanwhile, the Blues and Derby are reported to have shown interest in Leicester striker Martyn Waghorn, however, the Foxes plan to use the 21-year-old former Sunderland man as a makeweight in a £4 million offer for Bristol City's Nicky Maynard.

Good luck. Shame we've been left with ALB. And Murphy left on a free.

Shan't be missed..we've had waaay too many average goalies over the last few seasons..not had a truly great keeper since Kelvin Davis...if Schwarzer does get injured, any chance of us letting them have Fulop rather than Stockdale?

QPR fans must be the most disappointed in the league, the joy of promotion followed by a 40%+ season ticket price hike then being told they will only sign free transfers. Other than Bothroyd, their signings wouldn't excite a Championship club!

I agree Murphy was an average keeper for us. He did OK for a free transfer, but sadly his £1M replacement in Fulop was no better than him most of the time.

always thought Murphy was pretty good myself. No idea why Keane didn't rate him, and then PJ afterwards.

In fairness to Murphs he arrived on a free in January two seasons ago with a slight injury. He is a good keeper, a bit short but agile. He finds it tough to shake off the niggly injuries and that hampered his shot at first team, plus RK chopping GK every few weeks diddnt help either.

Congrats on 2 year contract and Best of luck in Premier!

Would like Maynard here but no to Waghorn

Spend some of the Wickham money on Maynard and sell Priskin and Scotland
